Set of Six Seat Cushions for the Outdoor Dining Chairs!

A couple days ago, I finished refurbishing our set of 6 outdoor dining chairs and while I was between steps on the last two, I got to work making these cushions for the set.

I used the cushion foam that is specifically for outdoor furniture, these are the 15" x 17" size and outdoor/performance fabric purchased online (RIP JoAnn). The pattern is called “Reef” and is from a line that is tropical-themed. There are multiple colorways, but the green seemed suitable for our woodland home. The manufacturers and designers of outdoor/performance fabric really seem to think that if you have outdoor furniture you must live at the beach or in the tropics! I like that the triangles hint at our trees, but aren’t little trees. The colors were perfect for our furniture with the tan and dark grey triangles among the greens!

I had wanted to do button closures, but my sewing machine is half-dead and won’t do button holes. I picked up a temporary replacement at an estate sale which is working quite well in the meantime, but… also is not doing button holes. So then, I looked into getting white snaps that would work with one of the 3 types of snap setters I have and… none that I could find in stock online! So hook-and-loop it is. They zip at the back for easier cleaning.

All six chairs at the table! We eat out on the deck all summer, weather permitting and it’s been so nice on our comfortable “new” chairs!

What a lovely outdoor dining area! Your chairs look great even without cushions but l love your fabric choice and I’m sure they are a bit more comfy now!

The cushions look great! At first I thought the print was trees. I’ve said it before but your deck looks amazing. You’ve put so much work into building the deck, building/renovating the furniture, the nice handmade cushions are the finishing touch! The view is so amazing, I can understand why you spend so much time there!

Thanks, y’all!

@Tapestry We both love our al fresco dinners and are grateful we can partake so often. We’re above most of the smoke most of the time this time of year, which lengthens our season.

@Immaculata So kind of you to say all that! The further view is quite obstructed by smoke these days, but it is still so nice to dine in the forest.

These came out great! I love how truly personal you’ve made the deck. Everywhere you look, there’s something you lovingly crafted and built. Well done my friend.

Aw, thanks! Sometimes I worry that our place will be just a little too made-by-me… but then I keep on makin’ stuff.
