Soap Box Books (more pics than are probably necessary)

I used some of the paper I tea-dyed last week and a couple of boxes from bar soap to make some little books.

The pages are a combo of French-English dictionary and sheets from a lab notebook. I used a three-hole pamphlet stitch to bind them into the covers, which I lined with some of the tea bags.

One of my favorite pages (and a peek at the lining). I played around with using stencils in the dye bath; the results were middling, but this one turned out pretty cool.

Thanks for looking!

I’ve had mini cereal boxes on my list for a while. I just haven’t gotten the cereal…

I love how you turn everything into art! So clever! I would not have looked at a soap box, and thought, “book”!

So neat! Great reuse of a box too.

Why does my mind go to “getting on one’s soapbox”? Like this would be a great item in which to post thoughts.

Thanks, everyone !

Mine does, too . I probably thought about the post title for too long because of that.

The stencils really only showed up well when they were centered under the (much smaller) pan I was using to weigh the stack down. Which is fine; I was using stencils I didn’t care as much about anyway, so I wasn’t invested in those patterns, and I’ve learned something for future projects. But, yeah, that one was the big winner.

These are super cute! You got great color from the tea dyeing.

It was…a lot of tea bags . And not that much water, relatively speaking.
