SOCKALONG with me - Knit, Crochet, Loom

Funny, that’s exactly my issue with quilting! I like quilting but the projects take forever. A sock or a glove is a little in between project that’s done before you know it.

But I think not having kids makes a lot of difference. When you knit a sock you need to pay attention all the time, especially when you’re knitting a really fancy sock like the one you frogged @Antbee. I’m sure that’s very challenging when you’re looking after a young child. The pattern and the yarn are really lovely, so it will be worth the effort when you’re finally done, I’m sure.

I finished another pair of scrappy socks:

Would you believe I only have 3 solids in my stash (red, purple and green) and none of them were bought to match the variegated yarn. Pure coincidence.

The socks are actually exactly the same size dispite the strange picture.

Lovely!

What pattern is that? It seems to make up quickly…or else, you are a speed sock knitter! I love them…the colors and the style!

Cute socks! The colors look so great together I would have guessed they were just a fun, self-striping yarn.

It’s this pattern: Ravelry: Zig Zag Summer Socks pattern by King Cole Ltd

I usually knit the stockinette version but for these socks I skipped the leg and went right from 10 rows of ribbing to the heel flap. That’s what makes them so fast. When you knit ankle socks you really only knit half a sock.

There are a lot of versions of this pattern but the instructions are all the same, this is the pattern King Cole gives out for free with the purchase of their Zig Zag yarn. It works with a lot of sock yarns, including Drops Fabel and West Yorkshire Spinners Signature.

Thanks…I don’t know why I just didn’t think about skipping the leg part! It sure would save me a lot of time! I have large calves and rarely wear socks much higher than my ankle anyway…I normally don’t like wearing socks at all, but I like wearing the shorties with my slip on shoes…I have a lot of King Cole sock yarn…

Finally! I started this pair of socks on 24th of may, and today I finished the first one! But here it is, and Im pleased with the yellow toe. I try to use up some of my stash of small balls with leftover yarn.

One down-side with using so many colors is there are so many threads to fasten! :face_with_spiral_eyes: But I do think its worth it. Put on a tv-show or a movie and its soon done

I’m working on Christmas socks, and decided to not make my usual plain vanilla pattern but one that came with the yarn. It’s still a relatively easy pattern but I’ve already frogged the entire heel flap and stitched it again because I lost track of the pattern. I’m only a fast sock knitter when I knit the same thing over and over again

Well, turns out it’s not me, the pattern is just not really that great. But I’ve managed to get past the heel on the first sock, the foot/toe can’t be that difficult, and for the next 3 socks I know where I need to watch out.
