Spin The Rainbow

My 4-year old DS and I dyed bits of roving in rainbow colors. We divided 7.75oz of Merino wool into seven quart-sized Ball jars and poured our food coloring over it. It gave us an ombre effect for most of them, and the violet split into it’s component colors very nicely.

I spun and plied most of it on my Nano, but I did the yellow and orange on my Ashford ES3. The weight varies from fingering to DK. I figure I have about 750 yards total.

Gorgeous! All of the colors look so lovely. You’d think to get that variation it’d be a more complicated process.
