Sweater-Along!

I’m really intrigued by this person on Ravelry that joined the tank in the round after 17 rows. I might try it…I’m not too excited about seaming the sides.

I also noticed there’s a tee version which is also super cute!

Nice yarn!

I’m with you…I hate seaming. She gave pretty clear instructions on how she did it so it wouldn’t be that difficult to convert it to in the round…plus, not a bunch of purls!

Yes!!

Haha, great minds! I just cast on for that tank today. I’m maybe 4 inches in.

Speedy!!

Ok. I did some swatching last night (blocked this morning) and I’m on gauge with both 7 and 8 sized needles, lol. Currently debating if I want a more snug (XS) or loose (S) fit. Maybe the XS with 8 needles would give me some ease even though I’m on gauge with my swatch. :upside_down_face:

Does the yarn have cotton? I think cotton stretches out more, so a little snug might work to fit you better.

Yeah, it’s 51% cotton 49% bamboo rayon. I’m going to try it. We’ll see…

Make sure you wash your swatches. I made a tee in cotton/viscose and it shrank so much in the first wash (mostly lengthwise) that ‘roomy’ became more fitted and a bit cropped.

Thanks for the heads up. These are hand washed in mild detergent and blocked. I got some stretching. My gauge went from 5/5.5 stitches/inch to 4.5 for both. :woman_shrugging: I honestly have no idea how the length was affected.

Ugh. I am finding the K1B/slipped stitch edge impossible to fix when I mess up. I’ve joined in the round, but have totally butchered one edge and the mess is down so many rows at this point I’ll likely have to start over. :sob:

Oh, no!

It’s frogged. But, I’m considering going up a size anyway, so maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. :upside_down_face:

I am so close to being done with my Balloon sweater. She is currently blocking, but I couldn’t help a pre-block try on

Your cardigan looks fantastic! That raspberry red looks so good on you

Here is my progress:

I finally got through the slog of stockinette, and am about 3/4 done with the detail on the front panel of the tank. Will be decreasing next to start forming the armholes and neck shaping.

The yarn was frogged from another project so it’s not laying as nicely as if I was using fresh yarn from the skein, but I’m really hoping it’ll block out.

Also, here’s how much of a stubborn git I can be: The pattern calls for K1B for a lot of the detailed lines, but for some reason I didn’t feel like learning it? In my head, I thought it couldn’t be that much different from just K1P1 when it’s done in pattern. Anyway, long story short, I decided to try K1B for the front chest detailing when I got there, and realized it does make a difference, and then was really annoyed with myself because the details on the side don’t nearly stand out in comparison. But I couldn’t bring myself to frog all that stockinette (haha) so I phased in the K1B on the sides. To be honest, I can’t really see much of a difference there, except that the stitches seem looser. I don’t really care at this point, since in most case I’ll probably be wearing a cardigan or light shirt over this anyway so the side details won’t be seen much.

Uh yeah…so another lesson in “Emma stop being so difficult and just follow the pattern as written”

Also my side edges are not great, if it’s any consolation to you @Abbeeroad. I’m doing the pattern flat so I’ll be seaming it up in the end, and those will get hidden anyhow.

I used to not finish my projects because I hated the sides or my seaming. I realized that I could hide a lot of this by seaming or making sure no one really saw me from the side .

Good call to keep on going. Should you make this again, or something similar, you have learned…I keep notes on the patterns I like but messed up…and my own notes on how to do the stitch or reference to a YouTube or blog post that helped me.

It is looking good and you will have it done in time for warm weather wearing!

The K1B is a pain. It’s so easy to drop a stitch. I’ve done it so many times I have the first 17 rows memorized. I do like the exaggerated rib but wonder if it’s worth it…I’m on round 3 at least with not much to show for it.

With the yarn I’m using, it really kind of blends on the sides, but it seems to make a difference for the center detail. I’m hoping the detail will pop more after I block it but we’ll see.
