Sweater-Along!

I watched this video earlier today because I wasn’t sure if I should cut the yarn from my 1st sleeve or not. The pattern is very minimalist. I thought it was a really great visual of the process. I understand so much more now. Still some * scene missing * moments in my brain, but not as many. I’ll def. share my learning journey, lol.

Ahhhh, the video makes the process a lot more clear. Thanks for sharing! I think you should be cutting the sleeve yarn (leave a good length for tail to weave in later…unless the pattern says otherwise) since you’ll be continuing the yoke with the yarn from the body. You could leave it on and have dueling skeins of yarn, but that seems like unnecessary yarn management.

You are flying through this sweater!

Yeah, I cut it, lol. After I watched the video I felt confident to do it.

@AntBee - thanks! The chunky yarn helps!

Decided to join you guys!

I am waiting for yarn to do a pocket shawl. I was going to use this yarn, but the stitches I am using for the shawl did not show nicely, so I am going with a lighter color.

I am using the dark yarn to make a crochet cocoon sweater. There are so many patterns for this, but since I never made one, I picked a basic one to try.

That yarn color is really pretty. I had to resist buying some similar colored yarn at Joann’s yesterday.

I’ve thought off and on about making a cocoon shrug. They look so versatile.

I think the thing you have to be careful about crochet garments as opposed to knit ones is that you don’t want to look like you are wearing an afghan…or maybe you do?

Well, I don’t want to look like a granny wearing a granny…

I am trying to work up one of those circular “sweater” things. Trying being the operative word. We’ll see. I may be frogging it all again and rehomjng the yarn that refuses to cooperate.

What do you mean? Something like this? I’ve had this image saved for a while, as a reminder to try it eventually. It seems too easy to come out looking this good, but who knows. Would be a great scrap buster.

That looks nice! Something to wear in the spring or early autumn.

OMFG, I am so frustrated right now…

So, day off, had to spend time at the hospital getting a mammo and bloodwork, so I took my knitting with me. Did a few rounds, was super proud of myself, got home and found a huge problem in this repeat. I was getting ready to fix it (after a glass of wine and a huge self-pep-talk) when I noticed another mistake in the same repeat all the way back closer to the beginning… I think I need to take it all out & start over. Sigh…

Finishing my S-Corp tax filing for last year sounds like more fun than trying to fix these mistakes right now.

The circles aren’t well placed in the pic. Top right is missing a knit 4 tog a few rows back. Bottom there is a yarn over hole where there should not be, seriously messing up the pattern flow.

I had a mammogramo too! But I’m not knitting a sweater, not even one with mistakes. Not yet, anyhow!

My SIL made several of these for her daughters and grand daughters a few years ago. Hope you make one :cricket:

Hard to photograph at this stage but sleeves and body are joined!

It looks great!! You’re so close.

I’ve got about another inch to go on the body before starting the ribbing, which I want to be probably 3 - 4 inches. But it’ll go a little quicker since I’ll just go back to just black for that part.

I’m a little surprised I still have a good amount of yarn left for the sleeves. Yarn chicken is probably in my future.
