The Night King

Thanks to some encouragement from @TheMistressT and after seeing @AIMR’s beautiful King Night, I’m finally posting the version I created using the same tutorial from Eulalia Mejia during the free trial period of Mastering Mixed Media 2026.

This isn’t my usual style, but it looked fun and grabbed my attention, wanting to try something new. Cardboard! Willy nilly marks! Wild colors! Yes please.

I really enjoyed creating this piece, so much so that the evening I started it, I looked up and to my astonishment, it’s was after 2am. I was in the zone just grooving along listening to an audio book.

I like how he came out, I call him slightly differently than the name of the course, I call him The Night King. :crown::owl::first_quarter_moon_face:

I am so glad you posted your beautiful owl! Yes, I know it was fun because I also lost track of time in a good way!

I love how you did the head. The top looks nice and feathery.

You owl looks younger than mine…I think because it is “fluffy-er”. :laughing:Great job!

Yey! You posted! You already know how much I love him and it’s great to see some more detailed pics! I really like seeing how you and @AIMR created the “same guy” differently from the same course.

What a great version your king turned out to be. He looks very calm and gentle.
It’s a good tutorial, I might do a simplified version of it with my nieces.
