@Mountains_and_Clouds and I agreed on a private swap and she requested a painting, mentioning how she’d enjoyed my two recent snowy scenes and gouache landscapes.
I created this 5x7" painting for her. It’s called The Night Path and inspired by various photography on Pinterest. My first thought was to make a snowy park path illuminated by little lanterns. But as I worked the painting took on a life of its own and what emerged instead was a summer scene complete with a touch of magic. I really want to climb inside and explore what’s at the end of that path.
Gouache on 5x7" Crescent Creative Watercolor Board coated with Golden Qor Watercolor Ground and sealed with Krylon UV-Resistant Clear Acrylic Coating spray. I coated the watercolor board with the ground based on a tutorial I’d seen which claimed it keeps the paint more workable, but I really didn’t like the result. I’m not sure if it’s the board or the ground that was the issue. I have 2 more boards, so I’ll try the next one straight.
I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! Thank you so much for absolutely catching the vibe I was hoping for! It’s even more magical in real life and I am excited to find a place for it on my wall!

Beautiful! I like how you are finding inspiration but making it your own. Very unique and well done. I especially love the little dots of light.
@Mountains_and_Clouds - I loved painting it. Thank you for the opportunity and inspiration! I agree it’s one of those pieces that looks better in person than in photographs though.
