The Night Rabbit

I made this paper mache rabbit for @Harlan as a thank you for her many kindnesses and for sending me needle felting goodies. She requested some of my folk art flowers…but I wanted to play with the theme, play more with paper mache, and I believe she likes rabbits so here we are. This is an art piece meant to be hung so it has a hanging loop on the back.

It’s a lot bigger than I originally intended, almost two feet long by one foot high. After applying paper mache and allowing the piece to dry for several days, I painted the base with watercolor ground to prime it as a watercolor surface, then finished the piece using my favorite gouache, white posca pen, and acrylic sealer.

Process pics per usual!

I was wondering where you got a rabbit form to paint…and now I am super impressed that you made it yourself! Fabulous project…the little flowers are spectacular.
