Tin of Sardines Cat Toys

I saw something like this somewhere and had to make some for my MIL’s and SIL’s cats for Christmas.

SardinesToys02

Found sardine image online, printed it on cotton fabric. Heat set, then washed the fabric, then made “four-packs” of sardines.

I made a label in Photoshop and printed it out on mailing labels that I cut down to fit on Altoid-type blank tins.

The toys have cat nip and crinkly plastic in them with cotton batting.

Thanks, everyone! I forgot to mention that it was all stash, too!

You’re killing it!

Haha! Thanks!

Super cute!

Thanks!

What a fun idea! With the cat nip and crinkly plastic, it sounds like they’ll be a definite hit!

Did you use a special cotton for printing or just regular cotton fabric?

Thanks! Hopefully the combo of 'nip and crinkle, they’ll cover most kitty proclivities. I used the stuff made for ink jet printers, but I have used regular bleached muslin attached to freezer paper with an iron. It faded more with rinsing, but would work for cat toys! Probably even more so if I had used a finer weave.
