Triactin 50an Jersey

TheMisterT and has a joke with his dudes that goes something like:

Dude: Oof. I just can’t sleep on the ground like I used to.
Other Dude: Did you take your Triactin this morning?
Dude: Triactin?
Other Dude: Yeah, try actin’ like not such an old man/weakling/etc.
Laughter ensues.

Anyway, the youngest is turning 50 this summer and they’re all gathering to celebrate. TheMisterT asked if I could come up with a Triactin 50 shirt that looked like pharmaceutical swag and working a little with AI, I did. I feel weird about it, but here we are. The AI added “mg” after the 50 which I initially changed to yr, but that seemed to obvious, so I changed it to “an” for the Latin for years, “anni.”

This pal’s favorite color is blue, so I ordered a blank soccer jersey in that color. They all met playing rec league soccer. I used 2 colors of HTV, included this really cool color-shifty stuff that was difficult for me to get good photos of. The shield is a lavender metallic from my stash.

For the back I copied what I did for a jersey for TheMisterT for his 50th. “Mucho” being another in-joke with the dudes, said when someone is being too much. I used the same funky HTV as for the “Triactin 50an” for this, but with the “stripes” running vertically.

This shot shows how that HTV looks with the light at another angle.

I can launder it tomorrow and I hope the marks from the heat press diminishes or goes away. If not, I might try to press the rest of the shirt being careful not the melt the vinyl.

Because it will require slightly special care - i.e. washing inside out in cold water, hang dry - I made a little care card to go with, since I won’t be there to say so and the dudes will be in the kind of state of revelry that doesn’t pay attention to laundry instructions. A white card inside an envelope with a cut-out I made for stash a while back and a bright blue safety pin that must’ve come from store-bought clothing or something.

TheMisterT’s sister will be 50 later this year and he wants a Triactin 50 an shirt for her, too. He got to share the joke with her earlier this year on a backpacking trip and she loved it.

What a fun gift! The color shifting HTV looks really good on that blue. This is such a perfect way to turn their joke into a physical item that can be gifted.

I have come to think of AI as an assistant that I can bounce ideas off of and get helpful feedback from. I really like the logo and my first thought when seeing it, was”that’s really neat! I wonder how she came up with that.” The whole thing looks great and definitely hits the pharmaceutical swag mark.

Thanks, friends! TheMisterT is excited to give it and has shared pics with the non-birthday dudes who are also impressed.

@AudiobookLover It doesn’t have to be evil! I just feel bad about the water and energy usage. I’ll likely use it again, but I don’t want to use it even remotely often.

This is great! That colour-shifty HTV looks like it was made for this.

Thank you! I had to do quite a bit of searching to find what I wanted for an HTV. I assumed that a 2-ish color ombre would be easy to find (like blue to white or something), but it was not. Rainbow and tie dye were as close as I could come in the usual brands, so I took a chance on an Amazon brand with good reviews. One little glitch was that they sent plastic page protectors instead of the roll of HTV on the first try!

Thanks, y’all! I got it laundered today and think that am going to give it a press with the Easy Press where there aren’t designs to try to even out the places where it shows the press marks. Otherwise, it laundered nicely!

Aww, thank you! It’s perfect for any whiner in your life! Including oneself. I’ll be making another shirt for my SIL for her upcoming 50th, as well.

I love this! Great back story. I’m going to use that phrase. My husband turns 50 later this year and the next time he says something in reference to getting old, I will have to tell him that

Thanks! It’s all good fun. I think in different hands it could become toxic, but TheMisterT’s dudes seem to keep it chill enough.
