My first finish of 2026! We have a little entryway between our garage and kitchen, that is a bit sad. The previous owners painted all the walls in the house a cold grey, which contrasts badly with the warm almond tile floor, and the slightly grimy cream paint on the garage door. I keep meaning to repaint it a nicer color, but just haven’t gotten to that yet. At Christmas, I used strong magnets to hang a Christmas Tree Wall Quilt that I made back in 2021. I loved how much it cheered the space, and helped deaden sound there, so after I took down the holiday decorations, I decided to make another wall quilt for the space.
The fabrics are a 5-Fat Quarter bundle of cool batiks I bought at Joann’s about 2 years ago. The block is called Cordelia’s Garden, which I found in my copy of The Skill-Building Quick & Easy Block Tool. (I’ve tried looking for a free version, but can’t seem to find one to link to.) I made it in the 15" version, and altered it a bit to add the central diamond, so I could include the purple-orange fabric. After that I made mini 3" versions of a Friendship Star block for the corners. The whole piece is about 21” square. A quick and easy stash project to start the year off right! I’m already thinking of making a few more to switch out over the course of the year.
Now I really gotta paint that door…
