Wrapping A Giant Gift In A Repurposed, Hand-painted Giant Vinyl Bag

TheMisterT has a birthday tomorrow and I have been assembling a “kit” for growing tomatoes ( :face_vomiting: ) or peppers in pots over the last several weeks. I had to hide things in various places he is unlikely to go or notice. Since the potting soil is HEAVY, I decided to gather it all in the bed of out UTV/snow plow to present to him on the big day.

I thought I’d be stuck throwing a tarp over it and slapping a bow on it. THEN I realized we had these vinyl covers from our pallets of heating pellets which when turned over are basically GIANT bags. PERFECT!

Once I got all the stuff in there (big pots, tomato cages, frost blanket, shade blanket, potting soil, organic fertilizer) I found that the bag was bit enough to gather up so I could use ribbons. Then I got the idea to paint a big ol’ 'mater on it. So I did that.

I thought I was done. Except… I gotta make a tag, right? Right! So added that.

Anyway, on his actual birthday, I will either bring him out to the shop to open it or back the UTV up to the bottom of the deck stair near where I expect the pots will go and present it to him there. I have wrapped some metal plant tags I made for his plants in a box that is in the house.

Nothing says Happy Birthday more than a big old tomato!

Sure made me smile…plus, clever use of what you had to make it special!

I love that you made this huge personal gift “basket” with everything he needs to grow his tomatoes! Love the tag as well!

Aw, thank you! This gift is especially special and especially gifty as I HATE raw tomatoes.
