Maybe a Mrs. Weasley-esque stripey sweater using all the yarns…
Made a couple ornaments with friends. That’s a grand total of four sheets of scrapbook paper out of the stash (which kind of makes up for the three pads I acquired last week?)
These are really pretty!
Nice! How did you make these?
I have been digging through my box of “things that are finished but that I need to do something with”.
Both made by @jemimah . I had both frames in stash and I’m not 100% sure about them. I might paint the frames or get different frames. But the one on the right will look great on my newly painted wall:
I’ve also gathered supplies for two zipper pouches, all from stash:
I think both pieces of cross stitch were also stitched entirely from stash during the first weeks of Covid.
Guess who broke their machine while literally sewing the first seam of the first zipper pouch? Yup, me
Noo! Oh man!
Yeah, that caused a tiny bit of frustration! The sewing gods were like, you’re procrastinating all year and now you want to finish all the things in one big marathon sewing session? Nuh-uh.
That painting goes so well with your new wall, yay! And those zipper pouches are going to be gorgeous!
Boo for your sewing machine being out of action I hope it’s an easy fix.
Cross stitch: finished in 2022, sat in box ever since
Frame: bought from thrift shop in 2023, sat in box ever since
Acrylic marker: used that one for my last pre-pandemic finish, so you can do the math. Still not out of stash because it’s still not empty, this is maybe the 5th thing I’ve painted with it.
Also:
Cross stitch: finished 20 years ago, dropped it pre-2022, possibly pre-pandemic, plastic frame was not fixable
Frame: got it years ago, sat in box ever since
You can see there’s a slight discolouration from where the previous, smaller frame was, but it doesn’t bother me.
That flower is gorgeous! I wouldn’t have noticed the color difference in the fabric if you hadn’t pointed it out.
Okay, I am declaring here, in front of God and you all, that I cannot do any online secondhand craft supply shopping until 2026. I might have to end up banning in person craft supply thrifting too, but online is the bigger offender because it’s so EASY.
Noted!
I hear you and support you. And also beg you not to tell me how one does this magical online second hand craft shopping.
Yes, please do not share!
While we’re making grand pronouncements, I am planning for a craft-supply very low buy next year. I haven’t worked out my guidelines quite yet - it will be a little more complicated than my usual ban since I’m renewing interest in a craft that I don’t have much of a stockpile for yet.
I’m trying to resist the urge to stockpile before the new year because I know I’ll eventually want to use a color other than blue or green book cloth! (Yes, I know I can make book cloth but at this point I prefer working with the premade stuff.)
I made a book this weekend and used some of the oldest papers in my stash to cover the boards. I’ve been hanging on to this pack since something like 2006.
November de-stash results:
Neutrals , used up something (the novelty yarn added to the main part of the hat) . I used a total of 667 yards of yarn with these hats. I made 4 of them, but my husband chose one for himself, so these 3 are going to the charity bag.
Used up something . Finally, have used up all the thick scrubby yarn that my MIL gave me a few months ago. I didn’t need any more scouring pads, so I made some door mats from them. The final 669 yards is now used.
December Themes
Color: Shiny
Pattern: Folk Art
For: Celebration
Challenge 1: Just get through the month!
Challenge 2: Take a look back at your DeStash Year. How has your stash changed? What are you most proud of?
Nice themes! I hope to craft a lot in December
I shouldn’t speak too soon, but I haven’t bought any yarn this year from any BF sales…the temptation was definitely there, but I don’t have any projects in mind that either can’t wait or could be done potentially with stash.
(I did however buy a new set of needle tips )
I bought a set of sock needles to finish a project (not because of BF) and I actually went and bought the wrong size and I returned them and bought the right size, instead of keeping them just in case I ever need them. I’m not sure if this is Destashing or Crafting math but I could have had +2 sets of needles and now I’m only at +1.
I am visiting my mother tomorrow and I hope to finish a couple of stash projects on her sewing machine. That’s real destashing!
