50 Projects or Bust! 2025

I hit 50 today! I am surprised that I am just about keeping up with past years considering the bigger woodworking project I have been working on and having been out of town 18 days so far this year.

It barely counts as a project, but today I got out two remnant pieces of waffle fabric, sewed them together, and hemmed them. It’s the summer sheet for our guest bed. I love waffle fabric in summer. The other sheet is a heavy cotton, which I absolutely love, but it’s too hot in summer.

I had hoped to just be able to buy 2 yards of fabric, but this colour, a dark lavender, was only available as remnants. It was still a fast and easy project.

Well, darn. I was working on my pennant flag, which would have given me a bingo. I got all my fabric and stabilizer cut and adhered the fabric to the stabilizer, but I ran into an issue when I went to add the base layer of my heat transfer vinyl. The vinyl won’t release from the transfer sheet :confounded:. I’m not at my house, so I’m using an iron instead of my heat press and I’m guessing that the iron heat was too high.

Well, I am out of luck on this project for the time being. I’ll need to order some more htv, then get it cut when I return home at the end of the school break.

In the meantime, I’m still going to try and get a bingo with other projects.

I am going to change my pennant flag bingo prompt to “Make a needle book.” I have just enough stabilizer leftover from my failed pennant flag and a needle book is just the the thing I need for an upcoming project.

I just updated my list with the one project I have completed this month and I am now at 25, which pretty means I’m on track to hit 50 this year.

I recently came across a really neat quilting technique and after telling my mom about it, we’re both going to make quilts with this technique. I ordered a pack of needles for the hand quilting and plan on sharing with my mom. But when I was thinking about it the other day I realized I didn’t have a good way to give the needles to her and she wouldn’t have a good way of transporting them (she’s visiting from out of town and had all the quilt project supplies delivered to my place. We will all be going on a camping trip soon and that’s when she plans to work on her quilt, so she would definitely need a good way to bring the needles along). So, I decided to make a needle book to hold her needles.
Here is my 26th project of the year and the project that got me a WIPGO!

And here is my formal wipgo call - WIPGO!!

Happy belated birthday babe! :kissing_heart:

Awww, thanks! That’s 50 projects, though. I’m “way” older than 50 years!

I hear “50 is the new 30” and, as I enjoyed my 30’s, I am down for that now that I’m gallivanting above the 50 mark, too. lol

I have a lot of silver now! I think our generation of women look younger at 50 than previous generations… and that I look on target for that. Last year, I saw a photo of me as a tiny infant being held by my maternal grandmother. I did some figuring and realized she was the same age in that pic as I was at the time and it was mindblowing how much older she looked. Dif skin care and sun protection, different ideas abour hairstyles, plus she had some chronic conditions that didn’t keep her young, but still… shocking.

My mom, her daughter, is 79 and looks younger or at least no older than her own mom did at 52-53. 🫨

Definitely, my mother is almost 95 and she’s only just become an old lady-ish, she’s still spry and active so she’s more late middle aged than anything.

Sorry that I have neglected this thread! There are just so many craftalongs and challenges and goals, etc. here that it is often hard to keep up!

Anyway, I bought a random yard of fabric a while back when it was on sale. I hung a picture in my guest room and realized that the fabric matched perfectly to the sash in the picture! Of course, I couldn’t just make a random pillow cover. I decided it needed “something”. I found this roping/cording at the thrift store–10 yards for $2.16! I guess not too many liked the color, but it was perfect for my needs!

Another random project to add to my list!

I intend to make another one with the other half yard, but to be honest, that cording was a royal PIA since it is so thick and heavy. I used the same inserts I made a few years ago, using an old sheet and leftover stuffing. Now I have to decide what to do with the old cushion covers…maybe turn them into a tote?

When I finished my Big Bookshelf project (#62 for this year) I was able to finally strike through that on my list! It’s carried over for a few years and boy was adding those <> a satisfying little bit of typing! WOOHOO! I hope I can strike though a few more things on the carry-over list this year, too.

After getting two WIPGOs, @AIMR sent me this very generous double prize pack a while ago (I’m sorry it took me so long to get pics up).

Thank you so much, Linda, for both your generosity and for running this fun craftalong! You are such a wonderful part of LettuceCraft and I truly appreciate you!!!
