I remember in high school wishing so hard that I’d run across one, but I never did.
Would there be any interesting in creating a Travelling Journal Project within Lettuce Craft? It would work like this:
Interested LC members sign up to receive the travelling journal
Person 1 purchases (or makes!) a blank journal (I’m perfectly willing to be that person )
Person 1 does something inside said journal. It can be a journal entry, some art, collage, or whatever they want to make in it.
Person 1 mails the journal to the next person on the sign-up list.
Person 2 receives journal, makes something in it, and passes it to the next person, and so forth.
The journal keeps travelling until all pages are filled.
We would need to decide who will keep the journal once it’s all filled in, but I think it would be fun to have a “home base” for it where it can be looked at in person if there are in-person meetups.
Anyone signing up for something like this would have to be OK with shipping the journal internationally, and consider that it may be heavy once it starts getting full.
I think this idea is fun, but wouldn’t fall under the parameters of a swap here. A mod would have to keep track of where the book was and if each person had it for a week or two, this swap could last forever.
You could have each person make pages and send them to multiple partners who would bind the books themselves.
I think the IYP swap @jemimah is going to host soon would be a great way for people to get in some of the more niche swaps they want to do. Like invite someone for a movie themed IYP swap or a specific fandom, etc.
Also, anyone who wants to host can reach out to a swap mod (@gozer@Kwality570@geekgirl) and we can help walk you through the process
It’s not as daunting as it seems!
Ink box cards (some people call them artist tiles) are 3"x3" (7.62 cm) with rounded corners but otherwise created like ATCs. just a different size/shape
I enjoy hosting swaps! I’m thinking of trying to host an anime themed swap. I haven’t received a lot of responses for time though so I’m kinda on the fence.
along the lines of Try Something New, I think there was a swap on C-ster where we were paired up according to a craft we wanted to try, and our partner sent us a kit for that craft – it was cool, if I’m remembering correctly (also was prob a logistical headache for the organizer to get folks paired correctly!) I’m pretty sure it was a “chain” type swap where you didn’t send to the person who sent to you (so that all of the kits & wishes could match up)
I might not have participated in that one, but watched from the sidelines…it was a long time ago!
@gozer , you have posted so many good ideas! and of course I forget my response by the time I scroll back down to my reply box @LindyBlues , ditto on posting lots of neat swap ideas! When you mentioned the upcycle one, it reminded me of 2 different ones I remember on the old site: Buy Nothing swap (we did that one around Black Friday one year to avoid getting sucked into commercialism and there used to be a Dollar Store swap (I never participated, but I watched with interest) – I think there was maybe a $10 limit and you had to prove it with your receipt? Then use the supplies to make something lovely for your partner.
Oh, and I would be interested in a recipe swap – have been wanting to change things up around here, so I’d esp like ideas for cooking for 2.
@geekgirl your assemblage creations are fantastic!
Would anyone be interested in an “I Swear” swap? The swap would include swear words, any medium. I was thinking of starting it around the end of February.
What about a “round to it” (or round tuit) swap? As in, “if i ever get around to it…” or “I was meaning to, but I never got around to it…”
Craft would be flat- a badge or button, or unframed hoopla, or something that was round with the words “to it” or “tuit” or similar somehow in the design.
