Inspired by the prompt, I made a journal page about one of my favorite movies: Truly, Madly, Deeply. The movie prominently features Bach’s Cello Suites, so I started with a part of the score as the background. It was from the beginning of Suite 1, which I also enjoy as a pun on Sweet One. There’s also a wonderful scene in which a white dove appears by magic.

I researched what glue would be best and it was just regular super glue. It was a bit fiddly, but they turned out great. There is a can on each side. I made 120 total. Winners got to choose two prizes from a lot of the ones I made.

Brief Description: I took four more flower workshops this summer, two of which were at different places. One was focused on organic sustainability and seasonality where I learned about alternatives to things like floral foam, and about making asymmetrical and large arrangements. One was on a working organic flower farm that was only open to the public for that event. I learned more about what goes into raising and harvesting flowers and got to see so many amazing varieties. The other ones were at my usual flower shop. I also researched local sources of flowers and made some “flash card” images to try to learn the names of some common flowers I’ve been encountering. Additionally, as flowers in arrangements wilted, I would remove them and remake the remaining flowers into new arrangements. I have a good number of flowers drying, too, to use in projects this fall/winter.

How awful! With the two year anniversary of Hurricane Helene as a reminder, we had this happen not with a dying fridge, but with the power outage. We lost hundreds of dollars worth of fridge and freezer goods, and we couldn’t replace anything for two weeks due to the grocery stores having limited hours and supplies. I could never make it as an old timey person. I like my electricity and indoor plumbing too much.

Update: I got some email requests to access the tracking list, which is weird because it should be set (and previously was set) for anyone with the link to access. Somehow that got turned off, but it is back on now! You should be able to click your name in the tracking post to access it. It’ll be fully updated by/at the end of the season.

Brief Description: A minor make that significantly increased the usability of my son’s space. We have a bunch of Ikea shelves that bins go in. After some room rearranging, it became evident that they would suit our space better stacked on top of each other. So I bought some metal braces at the hardware store, stacked the shelves, and braced them together. Each shelf has 2 braces on each side and 3 in the back. Possible excessive, but I didn’t want to risk them falling.

Brief Description: My cryptid BFF is the Icelandic shore laddie (fjörulalli). When I first read about it, I was tickled by its supposed MO: to “nudge you into the sea.” The other thing I love is the contradictions in descriptions of it. It has hooved feet – or webbed feet. It’s an herbivore that may or may not have a penchant for stalking sheep and/or pregnant women. It doesn’t stalk pregnant women. The shore laddie keeps 'em guessing.
