[CLOSED] Everyday Holidays Craftalong Summer 2024 (July 1st through September 30th)

Here is my contribution! I’m also making star wreaths for the top of each porch post. That’s today’s project.

@MightyMitochondria Oooh! I love it! Was this a stash-busting project, or did you get the fabric scraps specifically for it?

@LindyBlues thank you! It is a stash busting project. It feels so good to purge & use such a large volume of fabric.

For “give something away day,” I helped the kids sort through all their stuff, and we filled 3 large bags full of donations. We also gave some things away to the garbage, lol.

Now let’s see how long the tidiness in their room lasts…

That’s great! For Give Something Away Day I gave a nearly brand new pair of Van’s sneakers to the neighbor kid. I’m not tooting my own horn because I bought them on Ebay, but my sensory kid rejected them. The neighbor kid is the same size. He and his family dont have a lot. His eyes absolutely LIT UP! He is a precious guy and I am so glad he hangs out at our house.

For Tapioca Pudding Day I bought canned Boba drinks for my kids from Aldi. The boba is made from tapioca, so I’m counting it!

Thank you for sharing with your neighbour; that’s really kind!

I forgot that I had bubble tea with my oldest today, so I’m counting that too—tapioca pearls are also made from tapioca

Hello everyone!

How has your summer been so far? What are you celebrating in August in your own life?

Dan and I just celebrated 18 years of marriage on July 29th, but our son was quite sick with a stomach bug, so we cancelled our plans. We ended up just hanging going out dancing together on a different day. It was a shorter date than planned, but we still enjoyed it.

My sister’s birthday is at the end of August, so I must remember to call her.

And this is not exactly a celebration but pretty momentous: 2 out of 3 of my lifelong homeschooled kiddos will be going into the public (Catholic) school system the first week of September :grimacing: I think I’m more anxious than them, lol. My son will continue to be homeschooled, by his own choice (girls chose to go to school this year; I always give them the option).

And the biggest celebratory news for me is that my relief (supply/substitute) position with the library is turning into a permanent part-time position this Wednesday. I’m ecstatic but also quite anxiuos about balancing everything, because I barely have time to get anything done as it is, lol! Which is why I’m taking today to truly recharge after a very big week.

Share your celebratory news when you get a chance!

In the meantime, I’ll work on updating the posts with the celebration dates & ideas.

Please excuse any typos

I am a couple hours early for thrift shop day. Look at my find! It is the perfect thing for the new school year. My juniors and seniors will have their first Science Buddies day with 2nd graders this week. I will rock this shirt as our little people dissect owl pellets that I bought at a major discount from Purdue Surplus.

Ok, I just had to go search “owl pellets”. :flushed:

Oops…sorry. :grimacing:

No apology needed. Very fascinating, just a surprise.

Oh my goodness, this is the perfect shirt for any teacher. Or stay-at-home parent. Or homeschooling parent.

I want this shirt, lol

I remember dissecting owl pellets in school. It was gross but really interesting.

Project Name: Pulled Mushrooms
Project Link: Pulled mushrooms (more meals for Speedy)
Project Description: Sometimes when I cook mushrooms and pull off the stems, I save the stems to make this. It tastes great with rice or in sandwhiches.

Hi everyone,

I finally added the rest of the September holidays, along with resources and some ideas.

Life has been very hectic and a little difficult for a variety of reasons, but the winter Everyday Holidays craftalong will be better and I will hopefully post more often.

In the meantime, enjoy some one-hit wonders today

Remember that you can post crafts for any of the holidays listed in the season at any time during the season; it does not have to be on the day, nor even on the month of the holiday. The holidays are just here to provide inspiration.

Happy crafting

I just noticed that Sept. 9th was Teddy Bear day. It reminded me of the text exchange I had with a friens today.
