It’s time for the end of term project dump.
Class or Challenge Title: Alchemy
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: WWDitS Witch Skin Hat
Brief Description: This Halloween my husband and I dressed up as Laszlo and Nadja from the TV show What We Do in the Shadows. In addition to the clothing I made for my husband he requested the “witch skin” hat from the show. I used a pattern by Fancy Jen Cosplay for the EVA foam base, then sculpted the skin patches with foam clay and the back end of a pair of tweezers. After everything was dry, I sealed the hat with plastidip, gave it several coats of paint and washes, and finally added the feather accents.

Class or Challenge Title: Apparition
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Nadja Costume Top
Brief Description: For the top of my Nadja costume I knew I would need a pattern, as I have no experience sewing historical garments. After some searching I was able to find an Edwardian style vest pattern. I added sleeves from Truly Victorian for a mid 1890’s look.

House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Fur Cape-let
Brief Description: To go with my costume I decided to add a faux fur cape-let. I used another Truly Victorian pattern. And while I made this to go with a costume I feel like I would wear this anytime in the fall or winter if I were to go to an even nice enough that I wouldn’t want to wear a down jacket.

Class or Challenge Title: DADA
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Nadja Doll Outfit
Brief Description: Just as I made the hat to accompany my husband’s costume, I decided I wanted to create a Nadja Doll (from the second season of the show) to carry with me. I purchased an 18" doll from Amazon and found a pattern for a dress and jacket that could make as a miniature version of my costume.

Class or Challenge Title: Hagrid’s Christmas - Tinsel
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Nadja Skirt
Brief Description: The brocade I used to create this Edwardian Walking Skirt contained a coppery metallic thread that glistened and sparkled like tinsel in the right light.

Class or Challenge Title: HOM
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Is it a blouse? No, it’s a dicky.
Brief Description: I wanted my costume top to have a high standing collar. I had tossed around the idea of making a shirtwaist, but instead elected to add the sleeves into the vest. This meant I needed to make a blouse. I wanted it to be the same velvet as the sleeves, but was worried about bulk and heat. So I settled on a Dickey. When everything is all worn together you cannot tell its not a vest over a shirtwaist.
