Oh, also! Now that we’re stuck at home watching marathons of stuff on Netflix etc, I finally got my dad to try needlepoint! He did some embroidery years ago when I was a little kid, and was also really good at the fiber arts we did together in Japan, so we ordered him a kit a couple of months ago to make a cute needlepoint owl pillow. We figured it would take years of on-and-off work, but he’s zooming right through it now!
This a few different blues I just finished up (and some extra stuff left on the bobbin I didn’t take off lol) for stitching the sky with. I’ll get pics of the latest embriodery and then show all 3 of them off at the same time!
Linda, on the cans of fruit, consider calling your local day care center(s) and see if they can use it. My mother got a call last week looking for assistance by a day care worker that couldn’t find food for the kids’ because of all of the food being off the shelves. The fruit would probably be a good thing for the children.
I’m still getting use to this format!
It is probably going to be like every time we have prepared for a hurricane…at the end, we put food in a bag and attach it to our mail box and they collect it for the local food banks. You would think after years of this, my husband would know which foods not to buy…
The local day care centers have been closed for over a week now…our shelves are not empty as people have stocked up and prepared to cook at home instead of eating out…groceries are limiting quantities and closing early to clean and stock up…
Not technically crafting but I’ve just put a 2nd coat of paint on my bathroom ceiling. And “KonMari’d” my pj and gym kit drawers!
Now to file my skiing kit away as that holiday is not happening anytime soon . But safe
That looks delicious!!! Nice job!
I’ve been trying not to sit down too much while stuck at home, so I put the machine up high. Also to keep out of reach. It’s an embroidery machine so all I really have to do is thread the machine between each step. I do like having it higher up tho, so I may try it.
So, all of you inspirators (probs not a real word but, people that inspire)…
I made a thing, a bookish thing. Super basic, but given I started it over a year ago and all that got to was cutting up a bag, but still ended up moving with me…
The lowliest of booklets:
A labour of love??? So, I cut the paper last year, then for some reason coated it in modpodge which was shiny and then stick to the paper it dried on, hence random white pieces of paper stuck on. Turned them inside out and low, we are at this point.
I want to make a fancy shmancy thing but went super basic with no decs for no. 1 - everything else was looking like I needed to work more stuff out and do things in a logical order - I just kinda winged it with old tutes and links from the place before.
Not knowing exactly what I wanted to do made decision anxiety harder, so in the end. Just do something. TADA!
Sometimes the simplest of things can be so rewarding…good for you!
You have a basic and from there, you can do whatever you want or call it done!
Assembling square party! I thought I wouldn’t have enough for my giant quilt but turns out it’s just enough A few are leftover a mug rug or something.
This is gonna be SUCH a pretty quilt!!
My mom and I have been trying out loads of new recipes these last couple of weeks. I’ve mostly been forgetting to take photos, but later when I’m on my computer I can share some of the recipes we’ve used. There’s a pot of chicken curry soup on the stove right now that smells amazing!
Mmmm! Japanese chicken curry? It’s my favorite dish in the entire world! My husband makes it for me in the wintertime. Yum!!!
mmmm I also love Japanese chicken curry…my husband also makes it for me…he likes to experiment and throws in fried tofu, lotus roots, taro…mmmmm
Welp, Ohio shuts down tomorrow. We’ve pretty much locked ourselves down a little over a week ago anyway but my first thought today was…“Do I need anything from Joann’s or Michael’s?!” Like, I wasn’t going so I could be safe but now that the option will be taken away from me I had slight anxiety about it.
I told myself I should be okay and Amazon will have to do for now.
I liked having the option to do the curbside pick up should need be. Lol.
I had anxiety over that as well, but what I did was start a list. It kept me from impulse buying but reduced my anxiety…a lot of the things I really didn’t need or used something else and then removed them…I actually think I am saving some money!
I am also changing what I make to match what I have…it is quite fun!
I have $5 off $5 or more from JoAnn’s that is going to waste. I have controlled asthma, so even without Ohio shutting down, I wasn’t going to go.
Yes, this time is the ultimate crafter’s “craft from your stash” challenge! I have more than enough supplies but still.
@Lynx Man! I have one too! I just remembered since you said that. Maybe they’re offering free shipping right now…
Ugh, I looked but it’s “in store only.”
I quit worrying about the coupons since they come out all the time…you aren’t wasting money if you don’t buy…I only use the coupon when there is something I need and not the other way around…feeling like I had to use the coupon and finding something to buy!
