Harry Potter Craftalong - Summer Quidditch 2025

Prompt/Challenge Title: Chaser
Project Name & Page Link: Hopeless Ramen-tic Basket
Team: Moose Jaw Meteorites
Brief Description: My husband’s family does a reunion each year, and host a raffle to help raise money for the next reunion. I usually make something to donate (like last year’s Rose Garden Quilt), but since I was out of crafty commission this year, I went with gift baskets. I didn’t have a specific plan; I just went to Home Goods and let the Universe guide me. I ran into several asian food items, in shades of blue/purple. After that, I went a bit nuts. I found the basket at Goodwill for $3, but it was a sickly, faded country-goose blue, so I spray painted it black. Then I checked out PopShelf and one of the many Asian grocery stores in town to find a few more goodies to add in. I made signs in Affinity, and had them printed at Walgreens Photo.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Beater
Project Name & Page Link: Hem Black & White Silk Pants
Team: Moose Jaw Meteorites
Brief Description: Hemming these pants kept me safe from tripping over the incredibly long legs. There was enough silk leftover that I think I can even make a few scrunchies from it!

Prompt/Challenge Title: Teamwork
Project Name & Page Link: Basket of Sunshine
Team: Moose Jaw Meteorites
Brief Description: While looking around Home Goods, I kept seeing lots of yellow items, and it reminded me of the Box of Sunshine swaps, so I also did a Basket of Sunshine. Some of the items include elderflower lemonade, honey sesame sticks, lemon olive oil, churro popcorn, lemon almonds, meringues, wafers, and hard candies, and some silk sunflowers.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Seeker
Project Name & Page Link: Hem Blue Silk Pants
Team: Moose Jaw Meteorites
Brief Description: I was fascinated when I saw these pants available on Darn Good Yarn. They are made from recycled saris, and most importantly, they now have pockets! (Something their wrap skirts don’t have.) I cut off enough to make a couple scrunchies from this pair too.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Quaffle
Project Name & Page Link: Scrappy Potholders
Team: Moose Jaw Meteorites
Brief Description: I finished the tops, and the quilting on these, a few months ago. They’ve just been sitting on my desk, awaiting binding. I loved being able to cross them off the mental To Do List, and getting closer to a clean studio!

Prompt/Challenge Title: Bludger
Project Name & Page Link: Mug Rug #1
Team: Moose Jaw Meteorites
Brief Description: I had been meaning to make example Scrappy Mug Rugs for a class I’m teaching, but got sidelined by my broken wrist. They’re finally done!

Project Name & Page Link: Mug Rug #2
Team: Moose Jaw Meteorites
Brief Description: I quilted these while wearing quilting gloves, to help me keep traction, and lessen the strain on my hands.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Quidditch Cup
Project Name & Page Link: Hem Green Silk Pants
Team: Moose Jaw Meteorites
Brief Description: After living in the same 3 pairs of pants all summer, these were a gift to myself during one of DGY’s Facebook sales. I loved the emerald green fabric when I saw it.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Housecraft - Stash
Project Name & Page Link: Mug Rug #3
Team: Moose Jaw Meteorites
Brief Description: All of these mug rugs were made completely from stash. I didn’t even make a dent in my box of 2.5" squares, so I really need to make some more!
