Thanks, everyone! @Magpie, all of the things I’m posting in this thread are pieces of a Halloween zine I’m putting together. Hoping to make copies and mail it out to a lot of LC friends…if I can get it all put together in time.
Oooh, nice one! Love the varied thicknesses of the lines. The door is cool!
Here is my “wander”… because the text wanders. I’m going to put a recipe for pumpkin chili in my zine.
That is fabulous! I wish all recipes were this visual.
When I was in Japan, my cousins gave me family recipes and all of them were drawn like this! Some of the English words were spelled phonetically, which made them even more special to me!
This is so marvelous…
This is cool!
Is the pumpkin ‘just’ the pumpkin puree, as in no fresh pumpkin?
Correct, canned pumpkin purée. However, I’m sure you could substitute 29oz homemade pumpkin purée.
To prepare the chili, you sauté the meat and pumpkin first, then add everything else and simmer for at least 30 min (an hour is even better). I posted the recipe on Lettuce Craft before.
Also, lately I’ve been using black beans instead of kidney beans. Probably almost any type of bean would work; suit your own preferences. Sometimes I also add some carrots to the mix.
I love to see all the different ways you guys are interpreting these prompts!
Quick question @endymion, will you just be sending your zine to zine swap partners, or is it possible to get on your Inktober zine subscription list? It sounds like it’s going to be really neat!
I’ll send the October zine to anyone! It’s like a practice zine, I guess. I’m making a different one for the swap.
