It turned out so nice! All those tiny things you had to make to fill it…the plants and books are wonderful! I can’t imagine how long those took!
Question: so now that you have entered this as a monthly prompt, can you also get points for being a big time project or is it just one entry with no duplication?
It is a one time entry (though, it can also act as an entry toward the pin events, or as part of the Experience the Fair events). You can enter an item as a prompt or as a Big-Time entry.
I entered the empty LC bookshelf ornaments along with the LC books as Research Projects (20+ hours) last season (I also submitted the plants and the signs as regular prompts). If I hadn’t already submitted the individual components, then I would have claimed this ornament as a Research project rather than just a normal prompt.
@AIMR and @photojenn I can see where some confusion may come in.
The prompts you can only craft for one time, and you can only use a project for one prompt. The monthly battle is due within the current month and is the only time sensitive prompt. Everything else can be crafted within the 3 month season.
Let’s say you make a quilt. You can choose to claim it under the battle, a monthly prompt, or big time, free range, research project… whichever you decide to put it under provided it meets the time requirement.
The pin events that LovelyMiss has available are just an extra fun thing for the season. When you post your project under a prompt, you can use that one project to fit as many of the extra fun as possible. So that quilt from my example may work for four of the pin events.
I absolutely love these! I don’t do STS, so I’m envious of everyone who is able to claim one of these! That tiny snake plant is killing me with its cuteness!
Oh, @AIMR, you should absolutely join in! Even when I don’t craft as much, it’s still fun to find ways to make my items fit the prompts. The Pin Events and the County Fair Events add an an extra layer of creative thinking! Once you get into it, you’ll see how easy it is to get a project to fit into a prompt or theme. I also get inspiration from the way others interpret a prompt.
I stayed late after school today to set up my Nerd Games Template (which I am happy to share). Having it all in one document helps me to organize my ideas. Plus, I can color code, and copy/paste to my heart’s content Right now, I’m thinking of what I can make to fit into as many County Fair events as possible, without having to make a bunch of extra projects Right now, I have chickens on the brain…
Prompt: October - Baby Spice Team: Don’t Stop Beleafing Project Name: Mug Cake Gift Boxes Project Link: N/A Brief Description: Made these cute little treat boxes for STS. Each has dry ingredients for a mug cake, which is a sweet treat. I designed the tags in Canva, carefully picked papers, cut them with my silhouette and assembled each. Project Photo(s):
Prompt: October - Sporty Spice Team: Don’t Stop Beleafing Project Name: Derpy Little Birds Project Link:Drrpy Birds Brief Description: A mixed media painting with some recycled and repurposed papers in the base, including old sheet music. And aren’t all birds basically performers? Sure they aren’t playing instruments, but they are musical! Project Photo(s):
Brief Description: I used expensive yarn to make a beanie for myself. It’s very soft and luxurious feeling plus the colors will go well with my fall and winter clothes. Very posh and fancy design!
It looks amazing! We all deserve to pamper ourselves with posh supplies from time to time, and I’m glad you did so. Welcome to the nerd games! So glad you joined us!

Thanks! I am still figuring out some of the stuff but at least I understand about the monthly prompts. A little at a time! It does take some creative thinking to figure out how to fit the prompts but I also like that I am using the prompts to inspire me!
Question about the Experience the Fair event: Can a single project satisfy multiple activities? For example, if I made an animal-themed item out of repurposed supplies, could I count it toward both Barns and Demolition Derby, or would I need to choose one?
