Prompt: October - Simmer Pots
Team: Don’t Stop Beleafing!
Project Name: Cottage Pie from Leftovers
Brief Description: My lovely in-laws came to stay with Ada & I, while my husband was out of town at Gamehole Con. The last night they were here my FIL made a roast & homemade gravy. The next day I pulled some mixed veggies from the freezer, made some mashed potatoes, and turned the leftovers into a lovely cottage pie. It made the whole house smell divine, required the heat of the oven, and was made up of lots of different ingredients.

Prompt: October - Snuggles
Team: Don’t Stop Beleafing!
Project Name: Care Bears Trick or Treat Bag
Project Link:
Brief Description: This year Ada became obsessed with Care Bears; Unlock the Magic, and decided she wanted to be a Care Bear for Halloween. I found a sewing pattern to make the suit, but it would have cost me more than $100 in materials, when the ready-made fuzzy costumes were just $45 each, and incredibly cute and soft. She was waffling between being Grumpy and Share, so I just ordered both, and figure she can decide on Friday & Saturday. But I felt guilty for not making her costume, so I decided to make her a candy bag to match. She also couldn’t decide between two different Care Bear fabrics at Michael’s, so I made the bag reversible. Here it is filled with treats for her classmates on Friday. One side is all pastels.

Prompt: 12 Weeks of Winter - Week 1 & PIE, PIE, PIE
Team: Don’t Stop Beleafing!
Project Name: Pumpkin Pie Chickpea Truffles
Brief Description: Pumpkin pie is definitely a favorite seasonal treat. Unfortunately my blood pressure has risen lately, and I need to reduce my intake of things like pie. I found this recipe, which uses chickpeas as the base. The recipe called for coconut flour, but it did note you could replace it with a larger amount of almond flour. Since I dislike coconut, and already had almond flour, I made the switch. In order to coat them all in chocolate, I did need to double the amount of chocolate chips called for. My batch made 30 HUGE truffles. (I used a cookie disher to portion them.) They come to 70 calories, and contain about 1.5 grams of fiber and 1.5 grams protein each. Apologies for the lousy picture. They did not come out pretty, but they are delicious. If they were prettier, they would have gotten their own LC post! :joy:

Prompt: Free Range
Team: So Corn-fused
Project Name: Chips & Salsa
Project Link: NA
Brief Description:

I was given some tomatillos and teeny tiny tomatoes. I used them to make salsa, adding some herbs from the garden &etc and two little serranos. That second serrano sure was hot!

Then I made chips using instant masa. I don’t have a range or grill or anything so I used the Wonder Oven in air fryer mode. It worked beautifully. I used my tortilla flattener (whatever that thing is called) but I might like them to be a little thinner next time. I might try a rolling pin after the tortilla press (is that what it’s called?) Still, they are crispy and tasty.

Project Name: Pickled Salad Turnips
Brief Description: My CSA keeps sending me piles of salad turnips. Seriously, I think we’ve received 6+ of them, each week for a month. I’ve put them in soups, stews, stir fries, hidden them into Bolognese sauce, etc. Finally, I pickled some, along with a few slices of beet, to turn them bright pink!

@megwell
I really like the idea of making journal pages filled with used post-it notes; I think I’ve seen you do this before and thought “I should totally do this,” and then I forgot all about it. Considering how many post-its are currently littering my desk/laptop, I’ve got lots of material on hand to create a page, lol…

You always make such cool envelopes! I love the “seed packet” style ones; and those are some really cool graphics!

@Bunny1kenobi
Love the bunting and using up scraps :heart:

Your miniatures are so cool, and you’re so great at re-using items. I didn’t know about nailpolish for varnishing miniatures; I’ll have to tell my youngest! Though sadly, she’s not making as many miniatures anymore… she has moved on to other crafts.

Re: Inktober, I actually finished it this year! They weren’t good drawings, but I made all of them.

What a cool thing to do for your co-workers! I love all the pumpkins, but the crochet ones at the bottom of the post are my favourite.

@ezrib
Your kiddos are so lucky that you make them the things they love :heart: I bet they were so happy with the muffins.
I love the nosy geese on the bathroom wall; that is too funny :joy: I wish I had walls I could doodle on and that my family would be OK with me doing that, lol… I’ll have to stick to paper for now, haha… or maybe my office walls… mmmm… gears turning lol

Those are so great!

How do you adhere and seal the fabric for mailing?

1 Like

I use Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress Matte Collage Medium. It’s probably my favorite and most consistently used craft supply. It’s a translucent polymer that is both an adhesive and sealant, and works on porous and nonporous surfaces. Plus it dries quickly (with a little time to maneuver) and is waterproof. It can seal glitter, provide texture, be tinted…it’s really a wonder product to me! It cleans up easily with water while still wet. I definitely highly recommend it for paper crafting and mixed media! Plus it’s pretty cheap and a jar goes a long way.

Okay, enough free promo from me. It’s just really good! Lol
