Brief Description:

I made this scarf as a birthday gift for my granddaughter. I hope she likes it!

I wish I could capture the beautiful color of this yarn but my camera didn’t do it justice. It’s Lion Brand fun fur in the color peacock.

Project Name: Birthday Cake Pops
Project Link: Oreo Cake Pop Truffles
Brief Description: I made these for my husband’s birthday. They are brown and kind of rock shaped.

According to this article on the The Sweet Origins Of Cake Pops, cake pops were invented by a blogger in 2008 and after quickly gaining in popularity, they have become an ubiquitous sweet treat at coffee shops, bakeries, and birthday parties. Despite that, they remain a special treat that I make for my husband on special occasions.

Project Name: Birthday flags
Project Link: N/A
Brief Description: I used Silhouette Studio to make these flags for my husband’s birthday. I put a small flag in his cake pop truffles to make them festive and wrapped his gift in black paper so that the large flag would pop and give an atmosphere of celebration (though as I look at it on the screen, I suppose it’s more of an understated atmosphere of celebration, lol).

Prompt: May - The Mall, 60s pin
Team: Totally Radical
Project Name: Star Spangled Beauty - Section 1
Project Link: To come later
Brief Description:
This is the first complete section of my Star Spangled Beauty quilt (the quilt consists of 4 sections, plus borders). This part of the quilt is definitely made up of a range of materials, including fabric, lace (for a block that some may say has a shabby chic look), and denim. Speaking of denim, according to this article by Levi Strauss & Co., it wasn’t until the 1960’s that women started regularly wearing denim. I love how these hearts give the denim in this quilt a bit of a feminine touch and as a jeans and T-shirt kinda person, I appreciate the role that the 60s played in making jeans such an essential part of women’s wardrobes.

Prompt: May - MTV
Team: Extra Epic
Project Name: Strawberries & Cream Cake
Project Link: N/A
Brief Description:
A Strawberries & Cream two layer cake I made for my daughter’s birthday. It reminds me of the broadway musical TWO STRANGERS (CARRY A CAKE ACROSS NEW YORK) which has lovely music and is a sweet rom-com. I carried this cake all over our house, had to make multiple trips to the store to get the candle, switched plates twice and almost had an icing meltdown. So a bit more comedy than romance. But the word cake is in the musical title so it should count. My fave song from that musical is I BELIEVE.

We tape a sign to the door during parties that says “Just come in, door is unlocked. Please remove your shoes.” So essentialy just find our house and you’re good. :joy:

Right now there are fifteen 18-24 year-olds occupying my downstairs. The biggest food hit? The dinosaur chicken nuggets I bought as a joke.
