Prompt: Battle - January - Hare
Team: Running with Scissors
Project Name: Bowl Cozies for Mom & Dad
Project Link: It’s a couple of bowl cozies, so… yeah.
Brief Description: When I first heard about bowl cozies I made a few for myself and my parents, but the pattern wasn’t very good. It was too small to really hold a bowl. After a few tries I found a pattern that I love and use exclusively now. But my parents still had the old ones. Last night I saw my Dad using a washcloth to hold his bowl and remembered I wanted to make them new ones. So, as soon as I got home I whipped up two of them quick as a bunny for them. Hence, Hare.

Project Name: Apple Dutch Baby
Brief Description- An attempt at a new (to me) dessert. It was delicious but I think I should have used a larger pan as it took a very long time to cook and was still quite “wet”

@megwell - I love the idea of using old calendar pages as envelopes. I have an old Care Bear calendar and a few old sloth calendars that would be really fun to use in this way! Your T-Rex ATC is cute. And the project link definitely counts if you add your projects to it. So don’t forget to link any of those in the future for those bonus points! :smiley:

@gozer - I love bowl cozies. I have four from bunny1kenobi. I bet your parents and neighbors will get a lot of use from those cozies with the current cold spells we’ve been getting across the US. HOLY MOLY, that cat purse is AMAZEBALLS! It looks professionally made. Well done! :hearts:

@AudiobookLover - That pin display is great! It’s so colorful :hearts:

@Bunny1kenobi - How many family ATCs have you made at this point? I love that you are able to recreate all of these fun memories for your loved ones :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

@ezrib - That hat looks so soft! What yarn did you use for it? It is as silky feeling as it looks? And your apple dutch baby looks delicious. I’ve never tried one, either to make or eat. But it sounds perfect on a cold evening. :drooling_face:

Project Name: Chili

Prompt: January - The Astrologer
Team: Bits and Bobs
Project Name: French Omelettes
Project Link: N/A
Brief Description: I got some Boursin cheese and decided to attempt a French omelette. Then I kinda got hooked on them and continue to try to get the technique down. Here’s a picture of a bunch of attempts, though there are a handful more not pictured. They’re yellow.

Prompt: January - The Two Pots
Team: Bits and Bobs
Project Name: Cake loafs
Project Link: N/A
Brief Description: I wanted cake. So I made some cake. I decided to use my mini loaf pan for easier storage of said cake. That was a mistake. Though I only filled them half way, they really expanded. The cake was fine tasting, though, lol. Also yellow, but I went with this prompt because they were very delicate and crumbly.

Prompt: January - The Peacock
Team: Bits and Bobs
Project Name: New Years foods
Project Link: N/A
Brief Description: I made some treats for New Years Day. Some jewel toned foods including punch, veggies with homemade dip, and bacon wrapped little smokies in a homemade sauce (with some obviously not wrapped ones because I ran out of bacon, haha).

Project Photo(s):

Prompt: January - The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing
Team: Bits and Bobs
Project Name: Lard
Project Link: N/A
Brief Description: I used a lot of lard for the xmas eve oil fondue, so I had to restock. I get leaf fat from the CSA farm we’re members of and then render it. It takes hours, but that’s mostly waiting, so I’m submitting it as a normal prompt. I still packaged it in jars this time, but I read that cheese cloth as a lid can help avoid rancidity-causing moisture, so I’m giving that a try. It’s white!

Project Photo(s):

Prompt: January - The Miser
Team: Bits and Bobs
Project Name: Tacos
Project Link: N/A
Brief Description: And speaking of that lard, it’s very much the “good stuff” (like liquid gold but not liquid) in the kitchen. I’ve tried to stop cooking with so many oils because PUFAs seem to worsen my chronic health stuff, and have replaced most cooking oils with small amounts of lard, but I’m VERY picky what I’ll sacrifice it to make. Lard has gotten a bad wrap over the years, but is actually pretty amazing. Anyway, upon request I used some to fry up a batch tacos. They’re always a special treat and crowd pleaser.

Project Photo(s):

I’ll definitely have at least a few not food things next month. :laughing:

Those tacos are making me drool. They look delicious! :drooling_face:

I love Boursin cheese. I’ve never cooked with it. It never lasts long enough :rofl: I remember when my sister tried it for the first time. She ate the whole thing and had to buy us more because she liked it so much. It is so yummy, and I bet it’s delicious in omelets.
