One of these days I’m going to try joining you guys on zoom… Looks like you all had fun!
I love your wonky bits! The bee and dragon flies are a great idea!
I was auditioning wonky bits on top of the gelli prints I did yesterday, I think there are some future cards in here.
Did you gelli print them or just paint? I am not sure where to start…I love the colors! and what a fun way to use up the embellishments we are making!
@photojenn Isn’t it wonderful that a simple little black and white doodle really brings out the best in your background? That is so lovely!
I love those ladies @AIMR! The hats! And that headband! So fun.
Yes! Great combo for cards @photojenn.
I love those tags @geekgirl - so many layers!!!
Me too, actually. I struggle to think of them beyond backgrounds and such, so I’m trying to make a point to find other ways to use them. I’m hoping having some bits already broken down and at hand will help.
This is all really fabulous work ladies! Some great inspiration here
@megwell How did you cut your wavy strips and tags so accurately? Is there a trick?
@photojenn @geekgirl I love your black and white cut out doodles, I really want to give some a go
@Abbeeroad @AIMR I love your little dollies! How cool
I watched that class, and should really have a go at making some of my own
I gesso’d then painted, then did several layers of stenciling.
I managed to gesso 42 of them yesterday, so I will start painting later this week! Thanks! Just in time for the next kitty box to arrive with more…lol
I keep looking at journal pages and art made by you, @geekgirl and love that many of them are done with the aid of prompts…for example, you made a journal page where the prompt was gesso, dots, pink…where can I do to get such prompts? I think I work better with at least an idea rather than sitting at my desk wondering what to make…
I do ATC and other small art swaps on swapbot and some of the swaps will list 6-8 items and tell you to pick 3 and do your art. Some will list 3 and you do all three.
I can give some examples in a bit.
Oh, I traced them out first. No way could I have freehanded that
. I used a wavy edged stencil and an actual ticket as guides. And then just scissors for cutting, although doing the strips that way was quite awkward.
Example prompts:
- words from junk mail, stamped image, paint
- Something red, a flower and a cat
- bookpage, stenciling, paint
- Postage stamp, watercolor, lace
- any animal, a color, and a number
- a quote, blue, butterfly
- some stenciling, a focal flower, some scribble writing
- something metal, map page, something glittery
- zigzag, washi tape, sparkle, eyes, staple
- White Paint, Words, Washi Tape, Magazine Clipping, A Person
Those will keep. me busy for a while. Thanks
Thanks for confirming about my LC handle being there, LOL –
I was on my decluttering zoom today & realized that all is well bec I must have kept
it with both names recently
I just love your accent, by the way!
and @jemimah 's and @PrincessP 's, and @Abbeeroad 's, and I could go on & on
@AIMR , I see your hubby came through and made a fab dinner
OH, and I found my Ink Joy pen when I was rummaging through the box where I keep my happy mail stuff, so that is exciting! Now to see if I still like it, LOL
@Reinikka , I was totally thinking of you during the zoom yesterday, you should join for a bit sometime if you are available!
@Abbeeroad and AIMR, your dolls are precious! Thx for sharing pics
oh, @photojenn , that blue is stunning, esp with the wonky bit on it!
this is totally me!
even for the little doodles & wonky bits I need ideas!
that was one reason I was happy to have chatted with all of you yesterday, to get
IDEAS! LOL
Unfortunately I have high social anxiety and I find zoom even worse!
But after getting to know some of you better through Happy Mail and general chatting around LC I’m starting to feel more brave to try again ![]()
This makes me more excited to join! Do any of you sound like your from Minnesota?
I could listen to that accent all day! lol ![]()
I can relate to this. The best part about the art journal zooms is we are usually doing a project/following a video so there’s not a ton of awkward silence where you feel like you need to be chatting. Everyone is too busy making! Another plus to zoom is if needed you can always turn off your camera for a bit. And the most important one - LC’rs (Lettuce Crafters? Lettuce heads?) are the most inclusive, supportive, non-judgemental group I have ever met in my entire life. There is truly nothing to be anxious about, we’re all here to have fun, support each other, and make stuff!
