I like that. I have been pinning ideas for non-angled blocks to practice with and I think I will add this to my idea board. Love all the color variations.
Pretty!
Love the oranges and the variations. so cheerful and fun.
I received 4 grocery bags of remnants from an elderly friends sister’s stash. Some holiday, lots of florals, random solids, corduroy, and odd fabrics. I think the florals, plus my florals, will make a fun lap quilt for donation. But I have to finish my two in-progress ones first. Never ending fun.
That is going to be so pretty!
It looks so perfect!
With a flamingo in the middle! Gorgeous
Love it so much!
Wonderful colors. Makes me think of SPRING!
I made my first official block from a pattern! The Itty Bitty Kitty CommitteeI It uses two charm packs. I messed up cutting it the first time, but I had a matching charm square to scavenge from because there were a few extras left over from the pattern. The cutting instructions are still a little weird to me, but I think I will get the hang of it with time. I plan on making this pattern into a quilt for myself so I figured I should do some test squares.
I messed up on the ears somehow, and I need to review that. If anyone can identify what I did wrong and explain it very simply I’d be appreciative.
I was super happy that I got them reversed without any confusion.
I wfh two days a week and my goal is to make a block each time. Eight blocks a month isn’t that fast, but it’s faster than I am going right now.
These test blocks will be made into mats for my cat’s bowls.
Are the ears supposed to be the same size? I don’t know how to fix that but I actually like this look, it looks like the cat is paying attention to something.
Those ears are my favorite part of these blocks. It gives them kitty character, lol. How did you go about making the patch with the ears?
Also, this looks great for your first block! I think 8 blocks a month is a pretty decent pace.
First, yay you! I knew you’d be a natural at this.
Second, for even ear placement make sure the blocks are all centred with each other so you’re taking the same amount of seam allowance from both sides. It looks like more is taken off one than the other.
I used the off cuts from the quilt block to make some pinwheel blocks that I’m going to turn into a pocket for the tote bag.
Gotta make some handles and got the lining in during nap time today.
I think this is what you are asking. You take one 2" x 2.5" square, and you sew 1.5" squares to each side at an angle. Here is a link to a tutorial for a larger version.
For some reason, I chose to start with cats half this size. Ugh. I do this to myself all the time. But it’s the same instructions, just on a smaller scale.
I am going to try for this quilt.https://www.missouriquiltco.com/products/itty-bitty-kitty-committee-quilt-pattern-by-missouri-star
But instead of making it bright and fun, I am creating it in grays and mustard yellow. Again, I do not understand my brain sometimes.
You are tenacious when it comes to using every last bit of fabric…the tote bag is so darn cute and the pocket makes it extra special!!
I think you do a good job…the ears don’t look bad, just uneven…and I think they are cute like that!
None of us understand our brains. That’s why we are here…it’s a safe outlet for our craziness!
I watched that video, but I am unsure of how your ears ended up being different sizes. I just hope you’re able to recreate it, because I love that look!
