Hi All- Happy Easter! Hope you get some sewing done this long weekend. I am looking for opinions
on this layout of this quilt I making- which option do you like the best?

Personally, I love 3 best, with 2 as my second favorite.

Will you be using sashing between the blocks?

If not, I like #1 because the flamingos would make an interesting pattern.

If yes, I like #3.

I don’t really think you can have a bad layout with those beauties!

Yeah, #3 is a good one.

I agree with #3

Another vote for #3! :flamingo:

Thanks everyone, Sadly I don’t think any of those layouts are going to work and the size is going to be too small so I think I will need to make 9 of them! Its been one of those weekends where nothing seems to ago to plan.

Poor quality photos incoming because the light was not in my favor but here is my March entries

I mvanrh11, submit Ombre Coasters for my Small 1st Quarter (Ombre) Challenge entry.

I mvanrh11, submit Sea Glass Wall Hanging for my Small Personal Finish.

I mvanrh11, submit this as my Current March BOM

I Edel submit this as another finish not sure what I’ve already ‘claimed’ but this might be a small, because I think I’ve claimed a large and medium.

This is it’s thread First attempt at quilt as you go (QAYG)

It’s the quilt as you go method, I don’t really like the method. But I like the results

I love the randomness of the colours- it just makes me want to smile!

I havent tried QAYG yet, can I ask why you dont like it?

Wow, the first quarter of the year sure has flown by! If you haven’t already, please take today and tomorrow to submit any prompts, challenges, personal finishes, BOMs, or completed goals in order to get a ticket for the first quarter drawing.

April Prompt:
Green
Lime, hunter, forest…if it falls within the green spectrum, it will work for this prompt!

For the color prompts, the monthly color (or a varitation of that color) needs to be highlighted. This can be done in a variety of ways. For example, if the color is red, you could do a black and white quilt block with a pop of red. You could do a block made up of red scraps. You could make a mug rug that you quilt with red thread. Just have fun and make the monthly color shine!

Quarter 2 Challenge
(April 1 - June 30)
Upcycle:
Reuse fabric that originally started life with a different purpose and incorporate into a quilt project. Old clothes, bed sheets, table cloths, there are so many possibilities. Create a quilt using at least 25% upcycled fabric. Remember, you can opt to make a small, medium, and/or large.

April BOM:

Bloom Where You Are Planted - nominated by @gozer
Video Tutorial
This block finishes at 10", but can be turned into a 12" block with the addition of 1" borders on each side.

You have the option of creating the specific BOM featured for each month or submitting a similar looking block that is created more within your skill level or finishes at your preferred size.

Goal List:
Please share your second quarter goals with us. You can earn an entry into the prize drawing for every goal you share and complete this quarter!

I thought that our list was for the year  but I actually did four of the quilts on my list. So I will just continue that same list for the rest of the year.

Do we have to do anything in particular to let you know about completed goals? I’m sure you’ve better things to be doing than trawling through all the posts.

I have previously said what my yearly goals are but I am hoping to get this done in the next quarter:

  • Quilt and Bind the scrap cat quilt :white_check_mark:
  • Quilt and bind the live boldly quilt
  • Quilt and bind the star quilt
  • Make another Unicorn Quilt
  • Piece the flamingo quilt from Elizabeth Hartman :white_check_mark:
  • Piece the hello spring quilt :white_check_mark:
  • Make quilted make up bag

I guess I quilted this runner. It’s not a whole blanket but it’s something!

I hope to piece all the 2.5”, 5” & 6” squares I have cut out as well as all the cornery blocks, I forget what those are called. The dog crate needs a better cover than the ill-fitting wool blanket thrown over it. I want to finish 2 patchwork baby quilts. When it’s not quite so painful, which will hopefully be before Dec, I’d like to sort & disassemble my aunt’s plaids & make keepsake ornaments with the smaller pieces.

Heck yeah, it’s something - something great! I love your color choices and all that negative space works so well on this. Would you call it a small, medium, or large? I’ll enter it as a personal finish for this quarter.

Small: Something that takes you less than 10 hours to sew and quilt.
Medium: Something that takes you 10-20 hours to sew and quilt.
Large: Something that takes you 20 or more hours to sew and quilt.

@edel - 4 goals completed is pretty darn impressive! Here’s the format to submit your completed goals -I your name, submit your goal for my goal list entry.

A small in that case, including the pattern drafting it was under 10 hours.
The fabric was in the sale section of the shop but ended up being Tim Holtz grunge line. If you zoom in it has great texture. I did a random geometric quilting all over it to match the angles of the fox.
The fox itself is as @jemimah says “stitch in & around the ditch”
