Quiltalong - 2024

So cute. I love the wolves and the overall theme.

Thanks. All of the solid looking fabrics are actually dots. The lightest color is a soft gray. There were two other fabrics in this line that had bears and flowers, but they didn’t seem to go at all. I will save those for something else. I don’t remember what I was going to do with the fat quarter pack, so maybe it was on sale or something. I wish that I had turned the wolf fabrics in the opposite directions instead of them all going the same way. Directional fabrics have always been tricky for me, which is why I can’t believe I bought these.

I like it! Do you already know who will get it?

I’ve got two long-term baby quilt UFO’s in my stash, I should get around to finishing them asap. They were made from scraps when none of our friends was pregnant, but now a baby boy will be born within weeks, and we’re visiting another pregnant friend in June. I bought a few books on sale a while back so they’ll both get a quilt and a book. Both babies have older siblings that also got quilts and I know they got a lot of use out of them.

I’ve had a lot of other long term WIPs and UFOs but for some reason I haven’t really been quilting since we moved back.

Your quilt is adorable! I love the little wolves.

I couldn’t leave it alone…I ripped out the wolf squares and re-oriented them so that the quilt looks the same no matter how it is turned. It was just bugging me too much to let it go. :stuck_out_tongue:

I skrutt, submit this as my Current May BOM

This one Im a bit proud of. The earlier BOMs have my mum finished first, and I have asked her if I felt un-sure how to do something. This time she finished her 9 squares for the final assembly and left it with that. So while she had a garage sale, I sewed my square, with only the description at hand.

But my mum finished her square too, and here is that one.

I’ve done that @AIMR , ripped out to fix a bit that bugged me. I do like the new orientation.

@skrutt I love how different you and your mom’s interpretation are. Completely different looks. Quilting is so cool.

What a different look with just using different colors and layout! I really do love your mom’s cat themed blocks. It is going to be a lovely quilt!

That’s going to be a super cute quilt.

@skrutt it’s amazing how the same block can look so different.

My lovely quilty folk. What’s your favourite jelly roll pattern? I now (for the first time ever) have two jelly rolls. I’m not a fan of the jelly roll race. I think I’d like something different. What do you like? Any tips?

I have a pattern bookmarked called Jelly Roll Twirl (free). It looks pretty vibrant and complicated but it really isn’t. I also have a forgotten jelly roll that I must have purchased to make a baby quilt. I really don’t care for it anymore so I am going to use the strips to make a rope basket.

Rope baskets make even the ugliest of fabrics look good! ha

Off the beaten path here, but I’ve been admiring the braided/rag rugs done with jelly rolls.

I also just saw a jelly roll Christmas tree skirt and poufy pillow/floor pillow. Allegedly one jelly roll can make 2 large floor pillows.

Those are all fantastic! I might have to turn some of my fabrics into “jelly rolls”.

This was made from a jelly roll, one of my first grand nephew quilts. Simple blocks on point.

I love that quilt!

It’s still in use! My niece has 4 boys now and they each have a quilt. They go on picnics, trips, and everywhere.
Loved by each boy…and they are all different.

I’m wondering if anyone has done the Wanderers wide (used to be known as the gypsy wife) quilt. It looks like a nice juicy over to get my teeth into. But it seems only to be available as a paper pattern and it’s v expensive. I’m also reading some bad reviews on Amazon for the mistakes and vagueness of the instructions

But it’s calling me!
