have you tried Libby?

I just logged in and there is a bunch of Quilting Resources (mostly magazines) but maybe your library might have more options!

I’ve been doing actual quilting this week! Two tops had been basted for ages, but I wasn’t looking forward to machine quilting them. I used the last of the synthetic batting I purchased a few years ago and it was a pain to get it through my sewing machine back then. So after taking about a year to decide, I did (very) basic hand quilting on them. It actually went faster than I thought it would, I think each quilt took only one night. I’m a fast stitcher, and I did very basic straight line quilting, plus they’re baby quilts, they’re pretty small, 30 x 30" -ish.

One is bound now, I’ll do the other one this weekend. I’ve also started cutting binding for my nearly finished hexie-swap quilt. It needs 9 meters of binding. I wanted a scrappy binding but you don’t realize how much 9m (slightly more than 9 yards) is until you’re starting to gather your scraps.

I have it but I actually haven’t used it much for quilt patterns, good tip!

June Prompt:
Violet/Purple
Lavender, mauve, berry…if it falls within the purple spectrum, it will work for this prompt!

For the color prompts, the monthly color (or a varitation of that color) needs to be highlighted. This can be done in a variety of ways. For example, if the color is red, you could do a black and white quilt block with a pop of red. You could do a block made up of red scraps. You could make a mug rug that you quilt with red thread. Just have fun and make the monthly color shine!

Quarter 2 Challenge
(April 1 - June 30)
There’s one month left to complete this quarter’s challenge!
Upcycle:
Reuse fabric that originally started life with a different purpose and incorporate into a quilt project. Old clothes, bed sheets, table cloths, there are so many possibilities. Create a quilt using at least 25% upcycled fabric. Remember, you can opt to make a small, medium, and/or large.

I think I want to make this one with some scrap strips:

I like that they did longer, blocks of colors, and interspersed them with the skinnier stripes too.

I like those skinny black and white strips, looks so funky!

I love it!

June block may make me get over hating flying geese. Maybe not.
But I have ideas on how to fit it into my star quilt.
