Great shot and genius idea!
That’s a brilliant idea
-I skrutt, submit this as my (late) (September) BOM entry.
-I skrutt, submit this as my (current) October BOM entry.
Nice blocks @skrutt! I always love seeing what you and your mom come up with!
We still need BOMs for November and December, so if anyone has a block that they’d like for either month, please feel free to nominate it! Otherwise, I do have a list of possibilities from earlier this year when members made multiple nominations.
Thank you! It has been so fun doing this, and Im looking forward next year too!
Do we have a quilt block for November? If not, might I suggest Blueberry Pie?
Ooo, pretty colors. Yummy!
I haven’t had time to quilt, and miss it, but home projects are keeping me very busy. And life!
Thank you for the block nomination as well as the reminder that it’s a new month! I will get our November prompt up tomorrow and the blueberry pie block sounds perfect for this month’s BOM!
I might have ordered more quilt fabric this month, instead of finishing my Halloween quilt.
In my defense, one of my oldest friends has a baby due in spring and I think my Halloween quilt pattern isn’t right, so I’m going to have to cut all my blocks smaller (the finished size the block is supposed to be just doesn’t work out, regardless of how precise I work and how much I iron them).
Cross posting the quilts we saw at a local show this morning. So much inspiration!
November Prompt:
Diamonds
For the shape prompts, the monthly shape needs to be highlighted. This can be done in a variety of ways. For example, if the shape is a square, you could make a square patchwork quilt. You could quilt a pattern that features squares. You could create a quilt block using square patterned fabric. Whatever you do, just have fun and make the monthly shape shine!
November BOM:
Blueberry Pie Block - nominated by @MistressJennie
HST Cheat Sheets - Info for making 2/4/8 HSTs at a time
Four at a Time Flying Geese Method
Quarter 4 Challenge
(October 1-December 31)
The Spirit of Giving
Quilt a gift for someone, or use gifted materials in an item that you quilt.
Goal List:
If you haven’t already, please share your fourth quarter goals with us, or share your additional goals. You can earn an entry into the prize drawing for every goal you share and complete this quarter!
I was lucky to order my fabric a few days ago, the dollar has surged after the election result became clear. On my fabric order that would only have been the cost of an extra FQ or something, so I would have survived the more expensive fabric, but the same thing happened after the 2016 election and it nearly bankrupted my then-employer.
It was my employer’s fault - he was so convinced that the dollar was going to go down after the election. We bought stuff in USD and sold them in EUR and we’d typically say prices were valid for 14 days. My stubborn boss didn’t want to shorten that period during the election, out of both stubbornness and greediness - he had actually been thinking about extending the period to 3 or more weeks, he was so convinced the dollar was going to go down and that would significantly increase our razor-thin profit margin. The company pulled through, but had to supply the largest order of the year below cost - and I instantly started planning for a way to get out of there, because I didn’t want to work for such a reckless guy.
When my fabric arrives, I hope to make a quilt for my friend’s baby due in Spring, if I finish it this year, then it would count for the Quarter 4 Challenge!
Goal list
Finish Halloween quilt
Finally finish hexie quilt this year!!! - Plus matching pillow. Both are handstitched and handquilted and almost done.
Baby quilt for friend
Maybe some extra Christmas potholders for me and for gifts? I never seem to have enough
I got all my fabric cut for my Halloween quilt a few weeks ago, but my entire family getting Covid stopped any progress. I still have lingering effects (a cough that will NOT go away, ugh) but I plan to start working on it during the Thanksgiving holiday. I will be snuggled up with this quilt by Christmas!!!
I hope we are both snuggling under our Halloween quilts by then!
Hahaha! Great goal. We can do it!
Hi all, I havent been posting much it has been hectic here but thankfully have still been able to get time to be creative. Here are some of the my recent finishes
A cat size quilt for a friend who is adopting her first cat- It is part of the cat shower gift I am gifting her (she isnt going to have kids, so the cat will be her baby so of course it needs a quilt!)
My August quilt top finish- will be a quilt for a friend when I get around to finishing it
Alision Glass Quilt pattern- One of my quilt goals for the year
Book Nerd Quilt- this is going to be a baby shower gift for one person who loves star wars
Those are all amazing. I LOVE the kitten in Space, and yes, I agree, celebrate that kitty! They are babies too! Yay for cats and congrats to your friend.
Was the book one hard? I have been eyeing a book quilt pattern. I am not sure which one I want to go with, but they look extra hard and intimidating. Love that you made it all Star Wars! How fun!!!
The other two quilts are exquisite!
