I’m so, so glad to have these finished! I started them LAST winter, intending to make it for Jim’s (2024) birthday, and they got put off for Ada birthday shenanigans. Then I intended to finish them for our last anniversary, then for Christmas, then for 2025’s birthday, etc. They just kept getting put off, even though one was quilted entirely, and the other was about 3/4 done.
Beautiful job! The quilting is perfect on it. Bet you are glad to cross this one off!
Hey lovely humans, am I able to edit one of my goals to be complete the block of the Month stuff within the quarter rather than month? I wasn’t expecting my dad to have an enormous mental health crisis that has been near constant for over a week and is taking several hours daily to help look after him. The sewing time I’ve had has been on simple stuff that keeps my hands busy, and I don’t have the brain space to learn flying geese right now. But my mind keeps yelling "You said you’d finish these in April, you failed which is hard to cope with.
This is my cat baby for tax
Absolutely! You can change or add goals throughout the quarter.
It sounds like life has been tough lately. Don’t forget to take care of yourself along with your dad .
Congrats on getting it done and crossing off a goal list entry, a monthly prompt, and 2 bingo prompts all with one project! I need a project like this!
Thank you, that’s so lovely. I’m glad I have this place (site and thread) to be in. I’m trying to look after myself, and I have some counselling booked for next week as concrete specific support too
-I MistressJennie, offer two sets of Scraptastic Improv Pieced Potholders for my small personal finish.
I’ve worked on these over the course of the week, and finished them during nap time today. I love how they came out.
The random quilting adds to the scrappy, improv style! They are lovely!
Thank you! I’m calling it “pinball quilting” because I just bounced around from edge to edge. I have another set of potholders made with improved bits leftover from the Tula Pink fabrics I used for Ada’s Reusable Fabric Easter Eggs, but haven’t bound them yet. Not sure what to use for binding on those ones actually…
Speaking of binding, I love the addition of the black and white stripes to the binding on each potholder!
I, AIMR, submit these as one of my 2nd qrt completed goals. I ended up spending a total of about four hours sorting and cutting scraps and then cut the strips into 3.5 inches and sewed them together. I really didn’t know what I was going to do with them as I really didn’t want to make a scrappy quilt with rows of strips.
So, I then cut them each of the strips again into 1.75 inches and sewed those together. Still haven’t decided what I want to do with them, but at least I got a pile of scraps out of my huge bin. I am challenging myself to do scrap busting session each month this quarter!
So cheerful!
They are lovely, they would make great blocks if there was sashing between them.
They are small…only about 8 inches square…I’m thinking of making a few baskets similar to the one that @magpie made for me…Scrappy fabric Baskets by Magpie
Testing out a Quilt As You Go placemat kit today. I had to fussy cut the centers, with a template I made out of some card stock.
And here they are after the first round of piecing and quilting. Now that the ironing, cutting and other prep work is done, it’s moving quickly. Especially as I’m making 6 at a time.
That/s a pretty placemat pattern. Spring colors as well…love the center fabric!
Love the colors and so crisp looking.
Nice job corraling those scraps! These would be great as centers in sawtooth stars or as a substitute for squares in patterns like this or this (though it would take forever to make a substitute scrap block for each square)! Whatever you do with them, you’ve got a nice head start already.
@MistressJennie, your placemats look to be coming together nicely. Nice job coordinating the fabrics!
