That is so cool! It looks quite complex, but, yes, I can see that it is two squares and a solid rectangle! The layout is vibrant and fun!
Now I’ve laid it out, I’m not sure the backing I had in mind will be big enough. I just kept making blocks until I ran out of fabrics and didn’t stop to measure the intended backing fabric. But it’s fine. If it’s too small I’ll either piece the backing or find a different fabric in my stash.
I hope to get the top finished this weekend and then it’s time to quilt two quilts! I have pretty much figured out how I’m going to quilt this one (zig zag straight lines) but I’m still not sure about the baby quilt.
I highly recommend this block for mindless stitching / pressing / cutting while watching Netflix. It’s that simple.
I, AIMR, submit this pouch , as a small personal finish. I used the January QBOM as the focal point after I dyed the stark white a soft pink. I also embroidered the word “LOVE” in the center. I was making this for a friend for Valentine’s Day, but alas, that was when I was admitted into the hospital. I’ll see her in a few more weeks to give it to her then.
And, with this project, I have also got a BINGO!
Woohoo!! Congratulations on your Bingo!! I will get your prize in the mail right away!
(along with your Bingo prize from last year. I had planned on sending it out with your prize pack, but things have come up and it has taken me waaaay longer to get the prize packs finished and sent out. I sincerely apologize for the amount of time you have been waiting!)
I love how your pouch came out! That embroidered star makes for a beautiful focal point and I love how cheery the pouch is, especially with the red gingham lining!
@AIMR may have gotten the first Bingo, but that doesn’t mean the fun is done! Remember, everyone who gets a Bingo will automatically get a prize pack!
Today’s bingo prompt is a fun one:
Buy some quilt fabric

ATTENTION QUILTERS:
It’s time to wind your bobbins and clean your workspace in anticipation - The Great WIP Completion Contest will start on March 1st!! Now’s the time to start taking note of the various WIPs you have and coming up with plans to finish them! If you are using the Quiltalong Tracking Sheet found in this post, you’ll see that there is space to write down all of your WIPs as you rediscover them. Just be warned, once you start looking through your crafty drawers/cabinets, reading through previous quilt goals, and racking your brain, you (like me) may discover you have so many more WIPs than you ever realized! No worries though, the contest is here to serve as an incentive to finish them!!
What a great motivator you are!! Sounds fun and daunting at the same time…but I am going to find at least two that I can finish!
runs in circles, screaming and flailing arms
Good thing I didn’t finish the baby quilt right away but started on a random project instead! That wasn’t procrastination but contest strategy
now I can finish 2 in march.
Today’s Bingo prompt is:
Start a new project
Remember the prompts apply to the whole quarter. So, if you’ve already started a new project some time since January 1st, you’ve already got this prompt covered!
Here is a list of my WIPs that I can think of off the top of my head - I’m sure I’ll be back to add more as I rediscover them.
WIPs:
- Better Gnomes and Gardens quilt (I need to add a border, then sandwich, quilt, & bind)
- Triangles quilt (fabric has been cut)
- Interstellar quilt (need to label and bind)
- Skittles quilt (need to label and bind)
- ‘Sew’ bag (need to quilt and finish construction)
- Large Snowglobe collage quilt (need to finish the collage)
- Halloween quilt (need to sandwich, quilt, & bind)
- Witchy Wares quilt (one block done)
Well, it looks like I’ve got an excellent starting point for the Great WIP Completion event
.
-I MistressJennie, offer "Mama, I love love" Heartsy Quilt for my large challenge entry.
You mean EXTRA large! It turned out beautiful. Such fun and bright colors!
I, MistressJennie, offer my Quilt As You Go Potholders for my small challenge entry.
These poor potholders have been on my desk for months. I was trying to work out a self-binding approach, and the first one worked out fine, but I screwed up when cutting the other. Plus I just hated how the self binding looked. So I bound the second one the normal way, way back then. But the one that got mucked up, just sat there. So today I dug through my spare strips, found a second one of the rainbow batik, bound it, and added hanging loops. I’m so happy to have them off my table!
I’m so sorry for the misunderstanding - especially since you just finished the potholders today. The contest doesn’t actually start until March 1st. I just made the announcement that it was coming up in advance so that everyone could take inventory of their WIPs in anticipation of the contest.
No worries. Your prize packs are treasures!
No worries dear. I would have finished them yesterday anyway. I got an email from Allerton, asking for example pics, so I had to fix them. Meanwhile, we have to say goodbye to our beloved dog tomorrow, and Ada caught a stomach bug, and puked 3 times yesterday. (Twice after we were all in bed.) My brain is just no reading/thinking clearly. I’ll adjust my post.
Oh, Jennie…I am so sorry.
You have a lot going on. I’m so sorry to hear about your dog and I hope Ada makes a quick recovery. Sending some hugs your way
.
Thank you, I really appreciate your patience! Also, just to let you know, I did send out your Bingo prizes, so be on the lookout!
