I seem to always sew my binding the wrong direction so I keep this video handy to remind me how to do it! I just made a cheat sheet that simply says “Left to right”. Even after years of binding, I still mess up a few times!

I run into the same problem way too often!! I have a binding video saved, but I only watch the last part of it. This video pretty much cuts to the chase so I won’t have to fast forward through my normal video. Thanks!

I’m making a simple tote bag and I think the quilting has turned out quite well!

Thread is Gütermann Sulky that I mentioned earlier, I just bought it last weekend and I like the look.

The fabric is amazing, it’s from this line:
Witchy Woods – Lewis & Irene UK and it’s glow in the dark :ghost: :spider_web:

The pocket on the inside is the purple cobweb fabric, and I bought the bunting panel too. The bunting will be a gift for my friend’s Halloween obsessed kid whose birthday is on Halloween.

I started another top and the background fabric is cream, not white. At the time I bought it somehow the cream looked less creamy? I didn’t think it would bother me as much as it does. I still like the pattern and the other fabrics but I think this will go in the giveaway pile.

Does anyone else have such strong feelings about “neutral” shades?

Oh, yes. Some just don’t look good to me. Too flat, too yellow or murky. But then I’m that picky about most colors.

I’m working on a quilting project that I’m sooo excited to share, but it has to be kept secret awhile longer. It’s killing me not to show you guys!

@Immaculata, I really like the way that variegated thread looks against the fabric!

As for strong feelings on neutral shades, my first thought upon reading that question was no, I’ve never really had any strong feelings on neutral shades. But then I remembered an odd experience from last year - Last January I got some fun pirate fabric to make a quilt for LittleBookLover. I went over to Joann’s (who I still miss terribly :sob:) to choose some gray fabric to use for the background. I found a brownish/gray that matched up with the color on one of the prints and seemed like it would be a good way to tie it all together. As I continued to shop, I noticed that I was feeling ‘off’ and when I stopped to think about it, I realized I felt tension in my chest. After giving it a little more thought, I realized that it was that brownish/gray fabric that was making me feel that way.
So, I returned to the grays and ended up finding a different gray that was instantly uplifting and felt cool and refreshing as opposed to the oppressive feeling from the first gray.
So, I suppose that yes, I have had some very strong and unexpected feelings regarding neutral shades.

@MistressJennie, I’m looking forward to seeing your latest creation!!

Your comment about JoAnn’s… i miss them alll the time. Fabrics I want and know they used to have. Buttons I knew what I wanted and right where they used to be but had to find something passable from Hobby Lobby. (I could have checked WalMart and Michael’s too, but not sure they have any sort of selection, and HL was closer and I was in a hurry)

Bind your project

I laid out my latest project, the one with the cream fabric. This is completely random, tomorrow I’ll move around the blocks to mix them up a bit more and make sure the same colours don’t touch.

It was kind of a spur of the moment thing I started last weekend, it stitched up quickly.

That’s just one block pattern right? I love how you laid it out. Very nice.

I made more bird quilt blocks. And I have one more ready to sew up.

Yes, it’s super super simple. Sew 2 squares together, press, add a rectangle. I used a mini charm pack, a charm pack (each piece cut in 4) a FQ and neutral yardage. Each block is 4,5". I can see myself making this again in a different colour scheme or completely scrappy.
