I dislike him because he’s caused a lot of trouble for me and mine. And I really don’t think I can ask her, honestly she had the kids totally locked down, but would feel responsible even though there is no way of knowing if it was them. He is likely to have been drunk and stoned when going to bed beside the machine, so it is as likely that he stumbled, caught the machine for stability and threw it out of alignment-they are temperamental.
I’m calmer now, I’ll try the next fix tomorrow and if not I’m resigned to paying for a technician, whenever he’s next down from northern Ireland. (€€€€ and feck knows when it will be)
OMG no end of trouble. I feel ragey on your behalf. The absolute fury you must have lit with. So very sorry, dear friend. It had better be a quick & easy, & affordable ! fix.
Glad you let it out here. We can take it. I get the not wanting to spread the frustration and anger around. I remember coming home from work in a pissy mood and then having to deal with children also in a bad mood. Come home happy and much happier kids. Not always, but the chances were much better.
Does anyone know where I can get instructions for this pattern for free or cheap? It’s 3". I found it online with a bunch of other stars for $11.50 and that seems like a lot when I only want the one.
I get it now, LOL! Yes, they look alike, but I am looking for the heart to cut different. I might try it out, but since I am new to quilting, I am not sure if I could fix the measurements or make it that small with the heart cut into so many pieces. I think I just need to try. Thanks!
The main thing is confidence. I don’t want to screw up my fabric and waste a bunch without a plan. Eeps. Its scary!
If you have any non-precious fabrics or scraps you can always make a test block first, that’s what I do when a block is a bit complicated. I’m not new to quilting but my skills are fairly basic, so I struggle with complicated blocks. At some point I’m going to find all my tryout blocks and make them into a scrappy quilt.
@Edel, that is incredibly frustrating! I hope you’re able to get it fixed without too much effort or additional frustration! To answer an earlier question of yours, yes, the cyanotype fabric would count as an unconventional fabric. Basically anything that is not marketed as quilting fabric will count. And the quilt you made a month ago would count toward the non-standard quilt prompt if it is something like a wall quilt and completed within this quarter. Congratulations on completing another section of your Wanderer’s Wife quilt. That’s a great accomplishment as every block gets you just a bit closer to completion!
@MistressJennie, those bag panels are looking really good! I love the criss cross quilting on the pink fabric!
@gozer, I found a couple of similar heart blocks that you could size for the middle of your star. The first link uses a template and the second one is for a foundation paper pieced pattern that is available at a more affordable price than the original pattern that you posted.
Announcing the theme for this quarter’s prize pack…drum roll, please…
This quarter’s prize pack will be the Quilting After Dark Prize Pack!
I placed an order for supplies earlier today and hope to start on it shortly! There are two ways to earn a prize pack - either by getting a Bingo or by earning a total of 7 points this quarter (all info on how to earn points can be found in the very top post of this thread).
I Edel am submitting this art quilt for a bingo prompt. Non standard quilt project
II don’t think I posted this finished art quilt. I have showed you guys the flimsy, the blocks were from a life drawing class. I sewed them together at home, with some wise(?) words. I finished the quilt by using a vintage wooden blanket. These pink and cream blankets are iconic in Ireland and I wanted it to have a tatty rough edge, but be really Irish. It’s just simply quilted around each block. The slightly funny thing about all this is that the blanket came from an old priests house.
This is where I am at for my WIP Bird wall hanging. It’s going in my DW’s dim office to brighten the day.
I have two more narrow blocks to make, fall and winter, with some embroidery still to be done. Sashing will be dark green with a rust thin and green thick stripe border. My minor knee surgery slowed things down, but it’s not my sewing pedal leg, so I am good.
The lighting is not always good in my craft room, but you get the idea.
