Can you use it for a tote bag for your mom?

I’ve considered ties, but it would be hours and hours of work too. And I actually have joint problems with my hands, which gets bad when I hand stitch too long. But still, maybe…

I could make like 30 tote bags. It’s a queen size top. Possibly oversized, as she always goes for oversized quilts to look more high end. I’m not exactly sure on the dimensions, as I didn’t want to fully unfold it this morning. But it’s freakin’ BIG.

Now you guys have me thinking. I’m kinda wondering if it could be turned into something like a quilted coat. If I were to cut it down into smaller pieces, it would be much easier to quilt smaller chunks, especially if I used an iron-on fleece batting, or spray basted it. It’s just too big as it is, for me do finish it on my machine. It would weigh a TON.

Or I wonder if it could be cut down into two throw sizes… Hmmm…

I’m open to any other ideas everyone comes up with!

I have yard of that same embroidered linen somewhere! I totally forgot about it. (Pretty sure it’s in the back depths of my closet)

I’m digging the jacket idea, that seems to be trending as well.

I thought about Edel’s chair cover, too.
Also, hacking it up into placemats/table runner and matching chair cushions/covers but that might be visual overkill.

Do they have a pet that uses a crate? Crate cover could be useful.

Car seat covers to dress up her interior?

I’ve spent the evening working on the prize packs. It is now past midnight and I am heading to bed (appropriate for the quilting after dark theme?). Fingers crossed that LittleBookLover sleeps in :crossed_fingers:

I have spent hours and hours writing up a tutorial for a project that takes 1-2 hours. :joy: Hopefully my students tomorrow afternoon will find it useful.

I don’t know the name of this block but it’s so fun! If we can find a name I’d nominate it for a monthly star block

I really want to work on the Quilting After Dark Prize Packs - I’m enjoying seeing them come together and I’m really pleased with how the main item looks (I’ve only done the outside of one so far, but I really like it!). But, I am going to make myself finish the Star Spangled Beauty quilt first.

Theoretically, if I wasn’t me, I
could manage to finish the quilt today. So, I’m going to channel the productivity of all of you who are quick at getting things done and hopefully make some decent progress toward completing that ladder quilt (fingers crossed that LittleBookLover cooperates. He literally started getting frustrated as I was writing that sentence. Okay, new plan - first I shall read books to the little book lover, then I will get to work on the quilt :crossed_fingers:).

How’s this for a quilt, viewed in the dark? I’m at the St. Louis Zoo today, and saw this amazing quilt in the insect house.
