I am so glad you shared the story behind the fabric! I had a vague notion that it had to do with you and Jim, but I couldn’t remember the details. The black background helps give it a stained glass vibe and really makes the scenes pop and I love how you’ve used the star block to showcase the fabric.

It relly does look like a stained glass window, seen from within a cold and dark ancient church. The large blocks are perfect for this print. What are you going to do with it? Is it going to be a 20th anniversary project?

I’m not sure what I think of this… I had a wave of inspiration, and decided to just run with it. Not overthink it. Just dive in. (Not my strong suit.) But now I’m not sure I like it at all. My rough plan was to do raw edge applique, then free motion quilt the panel, before turning it into something. Maybe a tote bag, or a pillow, or who knows what.

I am of no help on this. As I scrolled down, I thought, “Ooh, I love that!” Then I read what you wrote and thought, “Hmm, maybe she should change the layout around a little bit.” Looking at it again a day later though, I can say that my initial thought upon seeing it again is that I do like the randomness of the layout.

I like it, but then I love circles. It would be a great pool cushion cover, but I’m guessing the colours would fade a bit-but that could also be really nice as it slowly weathers and fades

I got a few of the circles quilted with wonky stitching. Hopefully I can get a few more done while Ada is at camp this morning. I might stipple in the blank white space. I can’t decide if that should be white, or black. If I make a tote, the bottom and handles would be black…

I, EclecticDreamer, completed one item off my personal quarterly goals list: Make sample blocks for July block exchange/decide favorite/write up pattern.

I cannot believe how quickly the summer break flew by. LittleBookLover will be starting school next week, so we are heading back to the house this weekend. I had two quilty goals when I arrived at the apartment at the start of summer.
- Finish the Star Spangled Beauty quilt
- Finish and send out the Quilting After Dark prize packs
The Star Spangled Beauty is this 
close to being finished. I finished the binding the other day and all I have left is to trim the ribbons in the ribbon block and glue embellishments onto two blocks. I will take care of those two items before my husband arrives on Friday night. Then I can officially call it done!!
As for my second goal of completing the prize packs, I did make progress on them, but they are still a ways from being complete. I will resume work on them once LittleBookLover is back in school and I am very much hoping to have them done and sent before the end of August!

You put so much time and effort into the prize packages. They are worth the wait!
That being said, I am going to be busting my butt to get my goal items done and the QBOM because I heard a little rumor of what the prize theme is going to be!! I will take pics of my Bingo Cards as well.
I can’t wait to see your finished Star Spangled Quilt! It is a real beauty so far!

I’m having fun watching all the quilts and blocks appear in this thread. I had minor knee surgery in May then spent June trying to cure an undiagnosed case of the cyclosporiasis parisite. We finally saw a news report the first of July that pointed us in the right direction. Got antibiotics just in time to get well for vacation. We are home and the mountain of laundry and camping gear is all clean and put away. Whew.
I again laid out my bird quilt sandwich ready to pin and quilt. Then I made granola and started a batch of spaghetti sauce instead. The tomatoes are rolling in! From our garden I added onions, basil, oregano, garlic, a few red beets, and a summer squash (yes, I sneak summer squash into every thing) . We don’t have any pepper right now or they would have gone in too.
Quilting tomorrow between appointments.
