I saw this on Pinterest a long time ago and thought “I definitely want to make something like this for my laundry room,” if I ever see the end of these renos…
The renos are definitely not at their end and maybe never will be… but I finally got around to making my little “searching for a solemate” display… and the best part is that it cost me absolutely nothing, because…
… repurposing!
I had bought this giant desk on an online auction for just $4. Then it was kind of an ordeal to get it home because I miscalculated how big the top portion was. But I eventually figured it out… to be honest, I don’t even remember how. But it’s been a great addition to the new school area my son and I have been using. The only downside to this desk was that it had a keyboard tray with a sort of “cover” that makes it look like a drawer.
The tray works fine, but the cover annoyed my son because he kept hitting his legs on it, and it wouldn’t stay up when not in use either. So I removed it and took off all the hardware.
The little holes this process left behind were perfect for passing some twine through them and for attaching it to the wall later. I had the twine in my stash.
I wrote the words in permanent marker and added clothes pins to the twine.
And then, many weeks later, I finally put it up on the wall… with the lone socks!
And while I did this for fun and had no hope of ever finding the socks (because most of them have found a much better place)… it ended up actually working out, at least for these 2!
And they lived happily ever after, but they had their ups and downs, living in stinky conditions at times.
The End.
P.S. Thank you @LovelyMiss for the very nice friendship bracelet featured in the last photo.
