STS (Shop the Swap) 2024 Fall Market Discussion

This is why I wouldn’t be a good quilter. For those Xmas bags I made last year, I eventually went wild with the cutting because it became so tedious for me. They were not uniform, lol.

Ugh - hate it when the house projects expand. Good luck with it all - the end result will be worth it!
And, of course, best wishes for the vet visit!!

That’s a lot going on @gozer ! I hope your kitties are ok. :purple_heart:
Also, if the quilt is stressing you out, why make it? If I get too stressed out by a project I tend to give up on it. (Not that that’s a good thing either, but there’s gotta be some happy medium) Anyway, I wish you stress free crafting and healthy kitties. :purple_heart:

The quilt isn’t stressing me; feeling like I am cutting fabric wrong is. LOL! I don’t want to cut through a ghosts face or only have an arm or half the body in a square. I want it all lined up and the focal points in the center. But that is not how quilting normally works. Quilters normally pride themselves on having the smallest scrap pile possible. Fussy cutting wastes sooooo much fabric. I know I will love it once it is done. It’s just that first cut that will “ruin” the perfectness of the fabric that I have to get over.

It definitely depends on the quilt. They actually make fussy cut templates just for that. I have a set of square templates I use for fussy cutting and I use them when I make fabric coasters.

This one is just fancying up strips. Not a fussy cut pattern at all. Just my brain not wanting to cut through imaginary people.

I’m 75% done with a little goblin pot for this swap, per request for a tiny monster planter.

That’s neat! I didn’t know about that. Makes sense. Are they a plastic square that you cut around or are they a frame that you trace inside then cut?

Separate note for Ideas:
My cats would love cat toys :smile_cat:
I could gift four dog snuffle mats to family.
I like 5x7 correspondence paper.
I’m looking for pastel kawaii Halloween hand towels for my guest bathroom, with very little to no black on them.
A pillowcase for my couch pillow…um… I’ll have to get dimensions.
My middle sis would probably enjoy an RBG “I dissent” bracelet or maybe it just has the black and pearl beads… :woman_shrugging:
My oldest sis would enjoy a small artwork of mountains to remind her of Colorado or artwork of her cat
knitted neon-color leg warmers

There’s probably more I could think of, but I suppose I ought to go run errands, booooo.

If anyone does woodburning or 3D printing or has another idea… I could use little stake-signs for my houseplants that say what they are so I don’t end up forgetting. Paper ones eventually disintegrate and I don’t like putting stickers on my pots.

ETA, I have 30-some plants. :smirk:

Yep, I could do that one!

Sorry to hear about the kitties. Hope they are doing better. You will definitely be missed, but totally understand not wanting to spread yourself thin.

Here is a link to some of that I used to have in my shop years ago. Are these something that anyone may be interested in buying(https://reese52.blogspot.com/2008/08/shop-swap.html?m=0)? I’m also a beginner in crocheting and started with a few small easy projects, like this mug rug. I’m attempting a mug cozy (like this)(Simple Crochet Mug Cozy Pattern) to go with it. I’ll post a photo as soon as I finish.

Yes, the recycled keyboard circuit bookmarks would be good presents for my son and one of my friends.

Ok sounds good.

Awe, thanks. My vet visit went great. Getting there was a bit of a circus, but my little Egon did great (for him). He has to get teeth removed in Dec/Jan, so i will begin stressing about that later.

Awww. One of mine was trying to nibble on my toes today but now that he has no teeth it just tickles. Heehee!

I took my art pile to my mom’s like an eager 5yo to show off my work as she usually only gets to see pictures. She claimed two of them for her own so Meditative Moths and Edge Of Night (the blue/orange Ruth Wilshaw tutorial inspired one) are off the table. I’ll try to knock out another landscape or two before STS opens.
