Talk Scrappy to Me Challenge

She said something about giving it to gramma when it’s done. Uh, no, I will be adopting that immediately upon completion, I love it!

Pretty patchwork! Is she making a quilt?

I have been cutting some scraps into usable squares and will hopefully use them from that point on. I also have scrappy strings.

Will I manage a project by the deadline???

Oh my gosh, no, it’s a tote bag. She hasn’t much patience, it’s practically made of swears, lol. A quilt, I think she’d dissolve from the sheer frustration of such a project!

Hello!

I’m new on the forum, and I understand I have to wait one month before participating in swaps. Does this also apply to challenges?

Thank you

Welcome! We are so glad you joined our community. I am not a moderator, but I think challenges are open to everyone. It is a great way for new people to join the fun. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello @LindyBlues! Welcome to Lettuce Craft. We’re thrilled to have you join us. To answer your question, no, you don’t have to wait to join in on a Challenge here! Go ahead and craft something scrappy, and post it on the site. (Just follow the couple rules listed above in the first post.)

I am one of the Site Moderators, along with @Abbeeroad and @TheMistressT. Please feel free to reach out to any of us if you have questions or need help around here. You’re also always welcome to post questions in threads, and as you can see, our wonderful members like @MightyMitochondria and other longtime members are happy to jump in with helpful answers.

Thank you @MightyMitochondria and @MistressJennie!

I’ll be going through my way-too-large collection of paper scraps and coming up with something this week

I can relate lol! I look at a quilt and admire the maker of it, both because they made something beautiful… an because the sheer patience it takes to make something like it completely eludes me :joy:

I’ve finally had a chance to update the newest submissions! (I had house guests for the last 8 days. Whoa.) :joy:

My entry! Woohoo!

I started working on my scrappy project for this challenge last night. It’s a big undertaking, so we’ll see if I can finish it in time, but I’m going to give it a go! If anything, it’ll give me a jump start on the thing I wanted to make anyway.

Here’s my entry!

Scrappy Refillable Notebook Cover & One Insert

Pretty much everything is a scrap for this. The bobbin thread was leftover from another project, the elastic cord was a scrap too. The only non-scraps would be the rainbow thread, some sticky adhesive stiff, and the eyelets on the spine. I’m sure happy with this project and so glad this challenge inspired me to get it done! Thank you!!!

That brings us up to 8 entries, and we still have two weeks left to go in this Challenge!

@MistressJennie it pains me that you limited the challenge to one entry per person. It is a fair and reasonable rule, but I want to enter All The Things!

WORD, sister. You said my feels exactly!

I get it. Some of you Scrap Mavens can’t help making scrappy things. Scrappers Gonna Scrap! But I don’t think it’s fair to change the rules of a Challenge partway through, and this is how LC Challenges have been run since we started at the new site.

HOWEVER… I would allow folks who just want to keep the scrappy goodness going, to submit multiple scrappy projects, then choose JUST ONE to be voted on. So for example, Magpie could have her previously submitted Little Red pouch, and then decide to also enter a necklace of scrappy beads, and a scrappy fabric bin. But she would have to note which one she wants as the actual entry to be voted on, prior to the Voting Poll being posted. For anyone who entered multiple projects, but neglected to choose a favorite, I would simply use their last scrappy project, as the one for voting.

How does this sound?

@MistressJennie that sounds like fun. I can certainly enter some other projects. I will call them my participation ribbon entries.

Also, I hope my previous comment didn’t come off as a complaint. The intent was to be light hearted. No one wants @Magpie and I to bomb this thread with the entire contents of our scrap stash.
