I timed making the 3rd of these. It took all of 17 minutes to make! The first one was much slower, but then I was making the pattern up as I went along and kept pulling it back. By the 3rd one I knew what I was doing :laughing:

That’s all folks . . . at least for now :+1:

@storerboughtcreation – The hat looks like it was done very nicely and would fit the Curious George doll perfectly. Is that why you named your kitty George? And I am serious, he needs to be our mascot. I want to watch this little fellow grow into a big ol’ cat!

@GMPNQ – We call those Rice Krispy Treats and they are wonderful! I like them when they are still warm and haven’t completely set yet. That crocodile stitch is insane! I don’t think I have every seen that before. Now I am super curious on what you are going to make with it. It looks like it will be quite an intense project. Your patches look neat. Are you working off a color scheme for your jumper? Or are you going to let it be completely random? What kind of classes are you taking? What class is the fabric for? Sounds like a fun class. I think the fabric came out very cool and almost sculptural.

@Raury – I have seen these diamond painting around for a while, but I have never seen one finished! It’s pretty. How much work was it? Can you estimate the hours? I got one for Christmas, but I am hesitant to start. I also have 4 ½ cats (one is indoor/outdoor) so I would have to add a few hours to the time. I like the image you selected.

@gozer Lots of questions & comments, answered 1 by 1 :+1:
“We call those Rice Krispy Treats and they are wonderful! I like them when they are still warm and haven’t completely set yet.”
Yummy! Warm, cold, with chocolate, without, I don’t mind - I’ll eat them anyway they come :joy::joy: We call them marshmallow crispie cakes to differentiate between them and crispie cakes, which can be made with rice krispies or cornflakes and are normally made with milk chocolate and butter but no marshmallow.

“That crocodile stitch is insane! I don’t think I have every seen that before. Now I am super curious on what you are going to make with it. It looks like it will be quite an intense project.”
I’m going to do this bag in a multicoloured yarn. I might make mitts as well, depending on how fed up with the pattern I get.
The yellow sample I did will find a home in my jumper

“Your patches look neat. Are you working off a color scheme for your jumper? Or are you going to let it be completely random?”
Not completely random. I bought yellow, lime green, grey, denim blue, turquoise, pale lilac and purple for it and am using some red, orange, melon sorbet, lipstick pink and vintage pink left over from a previous project.
I kinda want a tiny bit of white, for flowers, but not getting any more yarn! Within the colours I’ve got I am being random.

“What kind of classes are you taking? What class is the fabric for? Sounds like a fun class. I think the fabric came out very cool and almost sculptural.”
I’m doing Art & Design (Textiles) A level, 1st year of a 2 year course. Its normally a qualification taken by kids after they’re done with compulsory education. I’m surrounded by 16/17/18 year olds all day, and am old enough to be the teachers mum.
I don’t care. I am learning so much, get the chance to try techniques & equipment I couldn’t at home and Kate (teacher) really knows her stuff and has worked on big film/tv productions before coming into teaching. I’m loving it, just wish it was longer than 2 years :joy::joy:

Yes. So I was thinking of names before I met him, but couldn’t decide anything until that point. As soon as I saw him, Monkey popped into my head. After a few hours with him, we saw just how curious he is, and so we had to name him George.

So yeah. Our curious little monkey, George, can be the mascot if everyone wants him to be. I’m sure he won’t mind. He loves attention. He’d love it even more if that attention was in person to pet him and play with him.

It took me about 2 months to do it, but that is with working full time, a son that is very social and a husband that had a hip replacement. So lots of interference in craft time, so I really have no idea how many hours it actually was. I have 2 indoor cats, one named Mayhem, so I know the worry about cats. I just stored the drills in small baggies so if one fell, or got pushed off, it wouldn’t spill.

I love the name Mayhem! That is so cute. My indoor/outdoor is Pandemonium, Pandy for short.

No matter what you name your cat, you tend to add “y” sound to the end…ha ha…Rocket=Rocky; Spuds=Spuddy

That is very true for me. I have a cat named Egon that I call BiggiE.

Awesome! My indoor/outdoor cat is Zazzles (because she’s Zazzy!) --definitely a Big Bang Theory reference! @aimr, yet, there’s that added “y”!

Humm
I must be the odd one out.
I have 3, Socks, Spike and Lola.
Socks is always Socks
Lola is either Lola or Mrs.
Spike, well, he can be Spike, lump, big lump, daft animal, big black apath (not being nasty - he is big and black and an apath!) and variations on that theme.

Not a ‘y’ ending in sight, I mean, hearing. :smiley_cat::smile_cat::joy_cat::joy_cat::joy_cat:

Prompt - Vultures
Team - Bits and Bobs
Project - Catty keyring
Link
Description
DS1 uses this for his school locker key, and also as a comfort thing. Yesterday the cord attaching the cat to the keyring bit snapped.
I used a scrap of ribbon to fix it. I have any more scraps of ribbon like this, in various colours for when this one snaps.
It took longer to than I expected because it was hard to find the fabric under all the fur

I have Rygel and Lucas (sometimes known as goober). Their names don’t really go with "y"s either.

In total, I have Venkman (V, Venk, or Venkie), The Black Dhalia (Dahl), Egon (BiggiE), Yeti Pegleg (mainly Yeti or Yet-yet), and Pandemonium (Pandy). I also had Gozer (Gozie more often than not) and Midge (Midgie-poo). I thought it was funny that the one name that actually ends in a Y sound, Yeti, is the one I remove it from - Yet-yet.

@GMPNQ - That was nice of you to fix the keychain. Nice size so she doesn’t lose it.

Lol - he.
Thank you. He loved the kitty keychain from the moment he saw it and got a little upset that it had broken. The ASD means he is often stressed and anxious and as I also have anxiety and have a little stuffie on most of my bags to fiddle with, i can appreciate how she helps him to stay a bit calmer and more “present”. He’s not allowed to take his teddy to school, even though he wants to, so this is an ideal solution :smiley_cat:

Prompt: February Battle - Birds
Team: Bits and Bobs
Project Name: Bandana Owl TM Patch
Project Link: to be added later when I get some more patches done
Brief Description: Perhaps I should have used this for the Owl prompt, but the battle is time sensitive, so this owl is just a BIRD! XD I’m working on more unembellished TM patches to make a KitchenAid cover for my parents. Since I don’t have time to applique on all of them, I’m just picking fun fabric prints to showcase!

Totally lost track and February disappeared.
Here are a few of the things I managed to do this month.

Prompt: February Battle - Birds
Team: Bits and Bobs
Project Name: Teeny Tiny Bird Ring
Description:
It always amazes me how we can get recognizable images with so few pixels (beads in this case). I searched for a small bird bead pattern for this project, small enough to work as the focal point of a ring. This is as tiny as it gets.

Prompt: January - Learn a New Skill
Team: Bits and Bobs
Project Name: An Infinity or Two
Description:
I wanted to make a ring with the infinity symbol. Couldn’t find any pattern that was small enough for a ring and looked good online. So I played a bit with a bead planner and came up with a nice pattern. So I made two.

Prompt: January - De-Stress
Team: Bits and Bobs
Project Name: Mary’s rings
Description:
I tried doing the Thing-a-Day craftalong, and make a ring every day. But, the very first day, I had a feverish child sleeping in the living room, and I can’t actually bead in the dark yet. and the rest of the month was full of surprises (sudden apartment move, for example). I think I finished ten rings this month. These two were made to show a friend how I make them. The stripes are one of the easiest patterns, so they are pretty zen to make.

Rings are sooo hard to photograph with my current phone. Must find a proper camera.
And now, I’ll go and catch up on all the awesome in this thread
