Project Name: Galentine’s Day Cards - Batch 4
Project Link: Possibly to come later
Brief Description: These embroidered bees made these cards thicker than an average card. Plus, odds are fairly good that I was thinking about pizza while making the cards, which means I would’ve been thinking of thick crust pizza since that’s pretty much the only kind I get.
Project Photos:
@graverobbergirl, as promised, here is a zoomed out look of my cards. The bees are covered in iridescent mylar that gives the bee a color shifting effect (hence the vibrant green in the original photo that you saw).

Project Link: "Year Compass" Past Year pages
Brief Description: The Year Compass is a free booklet that you can get online that prompts you to review the past year and plan for the year ahead. While you can of course just write your responses, I chose to make some art/a scrapbook of sorts to take the time to truly process everything that happened this past year, which was a very hard year for our family. Doing my yearly review this way really helped me to absorb everything so I could move on to better things.

Project Name: Valentine’s Gingerbread House
Project Link: Family Project: Valentines Gingerbread House
Brief Description: This strange creation is hollow. It started out as a Halloween gingerbread house kit, for my spooky kid. But we never got to make it in October, so I figured we’d do it at Christmas. Clearly that didn’t happen, so instead we made it for Valentine’s. It took me about an hour to get the house itself together, and alter the included frosting from orange and lime to purple and teal. Then Ada went nuts decorating for about 20 minutes.

Prompt: February - I A-dough You
Team: Cheese Trustees
Project Name: Bonkers Kid Cupcakes
Brief Description: We’re having a sad few days in our house, so I decided to try cheering us all up, by baking cupcakes. I had lots of (mostly pink) frosting left over from making the gingerbread house. I was just going to decorate them with pink sparkle sugar, but Ada decided we needed to add eyes, and then I found the bone shaped candies that weren’t used on the gingerbread house, so she used them as mouths. At that point we just started “yes, and-ing” each other, adding purple sprinkles as noses, crazy hair, and some beards & mustaches.
Project Photo(s):
Those cupcakes are so fun. What a lovely way to spend time together and add a little happy to your day.
Thanks! The scales ary favorite part. I think I will use that technique/texture again. I like the stained glass look. I think it would also work well with watercolor.
So many fun and cheerful projects! I hope this week brings happier days.
