Oh my, I’m so behind I’ve found some more supplies though
you aren’t alone!
I am right beside you , moving slowly – gathering ideas!
I just made my first masterboard today!
I’m still making a mess and having fun
I have one done and put down the first layer on another. I’d planned for that one to be a master masterboard that I got a couple of smaller ones out of, but the base paper is smaller than I thought and won’t produce two of the regulation size . So back to the drawing board on #3.
I’ve got one done and another in progress. The second one could be done but I’m not in love with it so I think it needs more of something but I’m not sure what.
Any tips for how to add “more” to a masterboard that feels like it should be done (stenciling, marks, and spatters added) but still feels like it’s missing something?
Stamps, scribbles, dots, script. Dip a bank card edge in paint & make cross hatch marks here & there. More splatters, black, white, red, metallic.
I was in this boat on the one I’m calling done – I’d prevoiusly thought it was finished and then came to hate it. My solution was another round of a thing I’d already done but in a different color, and it made a world of difference. I think; I may hate it again by Monday .
Reminder for sending, everyone remember to message me and your partner(s) when you send and receive! That’s the best way for me to keep track because I kinda turn off “organization mode” when it’s just in the swap thread thank you!
I might be done with the masterboards. Not completely convinced both partners will love them though so I might try to make another one… Tomorrow I’ll do more stalking to plan my small items
Just tape another one to an edge to make it bigger? Good luck!
I struggle with this too… often when I add more to “finish” one I regret it immediately and wish I had left it as it was So something very minimal is usually best. I echo @Magpie’s and @megwell’s suggestions You could also use a sharpie or thin paintbrush to add some lines/tracing/outlining/etc
That’s what I’m afraid of. I’ve been holding up pieces of paper to mask it and envision it in smaller pieces and I think it might actually be ok. I might just be reacting to the colors being a bit outside of my norm coupled with the fact that I haven’t made many masterboards before.
Luckily I still have a couple more weeks to play/fret about it
Made a second one; gonna start the third soon!
Just remember that they are really just bases to be used for a start for other things!
I have received a lot of master boards that would not stand on their own but as backgrounds, they were magic and perfect! I can’t wait to see the gallery…hope there is another round in the fall!
Wheeee I got into a groove and finished everything today! It’s all ready to go out in tomorrow’s mail!
woohoo! you go, girl!
I think I’m mostly done tinkering with masterboards, but I don’t think I’m going to get to the small item crafting until after we’re back from camping for a long weekend.
Time for a check-in If you haven’t posted anything recently please let us know you’re still active
Here’s an optional check-in question: What’s one of your favorite things to do when you’re making a masterboard?
I really like tearing book pages into strips/pieces, especially foreign language pages.
I am having fun with many layers of stencils.
I enjoyed making various stamps out of household objects!
