This is going to be a weird month but I think I’ve managed some sort of crafting every day so far (all six of them  )

  1. Set up Bujo for February
  2. Knitting, Sewing, and Bookbinding (signatures folded & nipped)
  3. Signatures sewn
  4. Spent all evening wrestling the printer
  5. Printed another book
  6. Previous day’s book sewn, two more printed, and worked on my musselburgh hat project,

I had “help”

Had another no craft day yesterday but finished the leg warmers today while catching up on the Olympics.

2/7: Another ten minutes tidying. I also worked on a swap project and stuck down a scrap (word creation unintentional).

Update – I did get in a token amount of cleaning up.

It looks like this outside:

So I am hanging out with these snowmen inside:

I have one hat left and then eyes and mouths. Adding the backing will finish the job.

We’re having a guest over so I had to do some cleaning and tidying too. The guest is quite laid back but deserves clean sheets on their bed and a clean bathroom.

This morning I cut a denim skirt and worked on another skirt. I started working on that skirt months ago but the fit wasn’t great so I’ve had to unpick parts several times. Hopefully I’ll finally get it done this weekend.

They turned out nice! Love that yarn.

Yesterday, 2/6, I managed to cut apart and quilt two pieces for a tote bag. I was so tired and not feeling well after our sewage leakage yesterday so I went to bed early. The wind was blowing so hard this morning that it knocked over our huge trash and recycle bins even though we had huge bricks on top of them. The tarp we used to cover the carpet in the basement that was covered in sewage was hung over our fence until we could wash it down or throw it out, and it blew it away to who knows where! Problem solved, I guess…sheesh.

Today, I pretty much put the tote together but still have a few things to do to finish, but I am tired again, so checking in later…after a nap again!

Today’s progress :up_arrow: all that’s left is to cut the backing and blanket stitch it on.

Don’t forget the mitten strings!

Lots of crafting today, including a catastrophic mistake, but I did manage to finish one item

Kidlet wants us to leave off the strings. She doesn’t like them. Truth be told, it’s probably a good idea as Yarn Cat would just steal and ruin it the first time it is left unattended. :yarn::black_cat:

This afternoon, I serged the denim skirt I cut out yesterday. It’s a pattern I made before, I’ve alread made all the adaptations to the pattern, so for extra speed I decided to serge first, then stitch together. I think it will stitch up fast, it’s an 8-panel skirt, I cut 6 panels that were exactly the same + 2 panels with an extra button band. I’m stitching the panels together today, topstitch + buttonband / buttonholes / buttons later this week, add waistband, done. I suppose a midi length denim skirt can be worn all year, but it feels springy, so this is good timing.

I finished my tote bag but decided I wanted it to be able to stand on its own so I have to make the bottom wider. An easy fix since I hadn’t sewn the opening in the lining shut yet.

So that takes care of Feb 6,7 and part of 8. I want to start on my mini quilt kit but I also have another project I want to do and an end table to build for my husband (cheap Amazon kit).

@Immaculata I have always loved the clothes you make. I can’t wait to see this skirt. I have four yarns of lightweight denim that I was going to make an apron overdress but I don’t think I would wear it that much so now I am thinking of a simple skirt as well.

With tights and boots, it can worn in winter and in the spring, sandals and a nice top.

@AntBee Yeah, your cat is like mine…probably chew those strings right off! ha ha

It’s a simple skirt, it’s selfdrafted (8 panel skirts are easy, it’s just 6 times the same thing, plus two panels with a buttonband) but it’s inspired by this picture: https://nl.pinterest.com/pin/413838653277803797/ It’s suitable for all the seasons which is a big plus now you’re back in a place that has winter!

I tend to sew a lot of simple skirts, a while back I figured out why I mainly do skirts and sometimes dresses. I think it’s because 1. I like to wear skirts in a style I can’t always find in the shop, but 2 is also very important: the bottom half of my body doesn’t fit into standard clothing sizes, my upper body does. Apparantly my waist / hip-ratio is uncommon. So if I buy pants / skirts / dresses usually it involves taking them in anyway, might as well DIY the whole thing. A shirt or a blouse usually fits without needing alterations.

Finished!

It is a nice style! When I was doing costumes for the theater, a gored skirt was usually what we made since we could add panels to fit just about anyone. It is flattering for most people no matter the size.

I love it!

I’ve been trying to outrun a cold but it caught up with me today. No crafting again for me. :sob:

.

I designed the “Pills” candy labels yesterday, and then printed them, and some more plant labels today. Started my lavender and Peppermint seeds, and finished the candy jars for work.
