I love a pieced back. And this back is awesome.
I hve two quilt tops going right now, both are scrappy with random sized blocks.
Yesterday I wrestled with paper piecing. I hadn’t done any in a while and had to re-twist my brain into the right shape. I’m dyslexic and paper piecing hurts my head. But I love the results. The pattern wasn’t set up for pp, so I first used Affinity Designer to join the pieces. My Adobe Suit went away when I retired and I’m still adapting to Affinity. Thank you whomever mentioned it somewhere on LC…it’s a fairly robust replacement. Blazing Star:
I spent the morning ripping and redoing to suit me. Sometimes I just look at a block and go “I can’t stand it…fix it!” And then I sewed one piece wrong and had to rip again. The center was replaced. And it is much whiter/brighter.
And these scrappy blocks started out as a double dissapearing nine patch but I cut the second slices ithe wrong place and ended up with equal size squares. Rearranged and created one big block…did not like it and took apart and just sewed up small filler blocks. But since it started out as a 9 patch, many seams needed ripping. Oh well.
Lunch time.
That star is stunning my friend!
Whoa, awesome.
I watched all of Karen Brown’s start of year organizing challenge youtubes. Not all of it applied to my space but lots did & now it’s mostly clean YAY! Maybe some sewing will occur this weekend.
I finished piecing the backing last night. Now to clean up my studio a bit, and cut out a few Harry Potter quilts. My friend Melissa wants to learn to quilt so she can make some for her kids, so I’m going to teach her with a donation quilt as practice.
Absolutely a show stopper! Just wow…
Your friend is learning from the best!
That back is stunning!
I have spent the morning watch Karen Brown on YouTube. I watched a few fast quilts, then started watching the color theory section. Quilts will be fun for me concidering i am technically color blind! Haha! Pretty sure i can muddle through it. It hasnt stopped me from drawing and rendering. No limits!
Definitely no limits!
I really need to watch them, but I am afraid…
Just do it, binge them all in a row & bookmark your faves to revisit. She’s lovely & so encouraging. You will get something positive out of it, even if that’s just a sense of direction or acceptance or future inspiration.
Jennie, that looks fantastic!
-I jellybean, submit my Picnic Quilt for my goal list entry.
I finished my wonky ‘picnic’ quilt! It’s a mess, but it will still protect me from grass stains when sitting out in the yard.

@AudiobookLover I wonder if we can get this link that @Magpie found, stickied. It’s a really excellent tutorial.
I Edel submit this as a large for this quarter. (I don’t think I’ve already submitted a large??) It’s the same type quilt as the previous one, but today life has been wading through treacle. So this was definitely a large task
It’s a nice lap quilt size, made for a nerdy friend for her VW campervan
The back has more vans
It’s really nice, I love this pattern.
I’ve been decluttering, is anyone interested in a Quiltmania magazine from 2019?
It’s a Dutch language edition but half of the magazine are pictures from quilt shows across Europe and the other half are patterns that are easy to understand without knowing the language. Example:
Great suggestion! I have added that video to the bottom of the very first post under Helpful Hints & Tips.
You really managed to get that camper van quilt done quickly! What a great gift!
Thanks sweetie x
-I marionberries , offer ombre kitten quilt for my small challenge entry.**
These were the last flannel charm squares left after making two flannel quilts.
We can always use more sleeping mats for the kittens. They get washed a lot.
And an extra
And an old mat covered in kittens. They are 5 weeks old and adorable.
Aww, hello sweet babies.
