Quiltalong - 2025

I am enjoying all the blues @AIMR and @MistressJennie ! And cute baby bibs too.

I made Mother Oak for a community quilt to be auctioned off this summer for a women’s land group. Mama Oak has protected The Land for generations now. She will be the center feature.

This is absolutely stunning!

I finished my Halloween quilt today, I’ll take pictures tomorrow. Today was a productive Sunday, I managed to get a lot of things done.

I can’t wait to see it! I finished the top for mine but need to get batting and backing.

@marionberries – beautiful…and so generous to give for a good cause!

I, EclecticDreamer, just finished my March block of the month (HST Hunters Star). It’s also one of my Q1 goals.

Is it OK posting it early? Also OMG 1.5" HST’s.

This is just shy of 4.5" square. I plan to keep using my 1.5" HST’s but… I think this is my last block using them as if they were real sized lol

Also everyone that offered suggestions when I was upset at upload fails and delays - one pic at a time seems to be the trick. Thank you.

I did the other Hunter’s Star as my March BOM. It was the first time I used a template, so I think that might count as one of the Bingo squares. I haven’t officially posted it yet. I am going to try the HST one like yours…only not so small.

It is lovely and colorful…but I can’t imagine how to sew that small! Well done!

I’m momentarily burnt out on sewing lol. I just canNOT get my blocks for a guild swap the correct size, no matter how hard I try. And that ~4.5" square was rough. I read @marionberries post about how she did her HST’s but I was already half through my block.

Halloween quilt is done! I’ve already submitted a small personal finish this month so it doesn’t count for the thread, but I wanted to show it anyway.

The wool batting is really nice but as it’s a little bit thicker it was also a little bit more difficult to quilt (but not a real hassle, just needed to use a bit more muscle power to move it through the sewing machine).

I can see myself using this pattern (or a variety based on it) again. It’s very versatile and it looks really modern. It’s great for using up novelty fabrics for theme quilts, but I can also picture rainbow, ombre, ton sur ton.

I picked up my new/old Bernina 1130 last week and I am in love. I had no idea how much I was struggling with my old machine.
It is all clean and serviced. I’ve pretty much just done straight stitching to finish up some projects, but then isn’t that the bulk of sewing anyway? I do want a 1/4 inch foot so have been searching for a deal. And I have some random feet to sell.
Time sensitive projects are done and I am back to my star quilt.

You are so right! Precision is important in quilting, but it’s okay if things aren’t perfect. So often, we’re our own worst critics (I know from personal experience, lol), but once a quilt is washed and dried, so many ‘imperfections’ become unnoticeable. I love that you have a very tangible reminder that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be nice.

@MistressJennie, you are just churning out the blue and gray quilts! I really like the HST diamond quilt!

@AIMR, cute bibs! I especially like the floral bunny fabric.

That definitely counts!

@marionberries, wow, what a lovely block! That sun is the perfect finishing touch!

@EclecticDreamer, typically you’d submit the BOM blocks during the month they’re featured (or you can always submit a late block after the month). No need to resubmit March though. Nice job making those HSTs work for you!

@Immaculata, you can submit your Halloween quilt for a small quarterly challenge if you haven’t submitted for that yet.

The weeks are flying by and it is Wednesday once again. Which means that it’s Bingo call day. So, get those Bingo cards ready!

Today’s Bingo prompt is:
Use a print fabric

I, AIMR, submit this March BOM. I did the template version of this pattern. This was the first time I used a template . It wasn’t that difficult at all, so I will now be more open to doing patterns that use templates. I am going to also try the other version as it looks very different, and seeing @EclecticDreamer 's version really makes me want to do it!

This also completes one of my quarterly goals of doing the BOMs for all three months!

I love your fabric choices, they really make this block pop!

I’ve managed to quilt 3 of my 5 quilt tops. The two smaller “Ghost” quilts, and the HST Diamond one. I did of course, forget what I promised myself I wouldn’t forget. I quilted the Ghost quilts without adding on the ghost faces. But I think it will be easy enough to applique them on top. Bonus: I was able to use the off cuts of the batting from those two, and the off cut of the backing from them, to line and back the HST quilt. Heck yeah for using things up before they can even become stash! Hoping to either bind those this weekend, or pin baste and quilt the bigger Ghost quilt.

Oh, and question for you @AudiobookLover: Are we allowed to add goals to our list mid-quarter? I had a project come up that was requested of me, that I hope to finish on time. I’m hoping making it a Goal, will help push me to do it. (I don’t want to make it. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:)

National quilting month? Now i feel a little sad skipping a quilting bee today lol. It’s 10 miles away… i have other things i should be doing though. (Though all I’m doing is reading and futilely yelling “no!” At my cat)

I had another community quilt block to stitch up. The theme is ‘tis a gift’ jewel tones and black. We were given fabric, but not enough for a 12" block. Stash to the rescue. The March block was perfect.
