Quiltalong - 2026

(((Hugs)))
I am so sorry, sweetie. It’s so hard to lose a friend. Be kind to yourself right now.
Remember, stuff is just things. If that built friendships we’d all be besties with the corner store clerk. It takes a heart-connection to make a friendship & that’s built of care & love, which you obviously had for each other.
It will never have been enough time together but don’t let regret creep into your memories. She’s gone & left a friend-sized hole in your heart, let that fill up with reflections of the time you did have together. Be good to yourself right now, like your friend would be to you. Keep her alive inside you in that way, carry her love for you around in your heart. That’s how we all live on after we go, in the hearts of our loved ones forever.

Today’s Quiltalong bingo prompt is:
Share your favorite color. Do you tend to gravitate toward this color in your quilts?

I tend to include a lot of red. I have a lot of fat quarters with red in them.

My favorite color? Umm… all of them? Lol. Though seriously green is my favorite color. Greens and pinks/maroons seem to be what I gravitate towards, whether i like it or not. (Byv this I mean I don’t v intend cto buy 90% pinks and greens…)

I like purple and pink, but not all the shades. I don’t think I use those colours more than others though. When it comes to FQs etc I pay more attention to the print than the colour.

I’ve bought fabric for two quilts for me a while back (summer and winter) and both include lots of red, which is a colour I wear a lot, but I don’t think of it as my favourite colour. Maybe I should, considering the amount of red I own

I’ve been looking for thrifted fabric or sheets for summer dresses. I gravitate towards blues, especially navy. No turquoise or teal, more true blue or cobalts. Reds on the darker side and some purples.

I look at my closet and it is blue, gray and black with a smattering of reds and purples.

In quilting, I love rich colors and love to use greens, browns and blues.

My favorite colors are purple, teal and black. Especially to wear. But I don’t think I quilt in those colors more often than others. For quilts, I tend to love rainbow, but often the quilts I make are based on someone else’s preferences or their space.

Quilting let’s me explore other color ways. The finished quilt may not fit in with my decor, but there is always someone who likes it. Lucky us, someone always gravitates towards the items we may not always be happy with.

I keep meaning to post the original video of how this lady finishes her binding. She does this interesting technique where she folds the beginning of the binding down at a 45 degree angle, then when she gets to the other end, she tucks the end inside of the beginning, thereby not needing to do a join at that point.

I can’t find the original, but she showed it again in this video last night. This one is about using up charm packs and cheap vinyl tablecloths to make heavy duty tote bags.

That wall hanging is so adorable. I love the colors and little bobble border. I have to get started on my March BOMs. I’ve been making bird blocks and sewing summer dresses.

This week’s Bingo call:
Use a fabric with geometric shapes

Our last call of the quarter will be next week. So don’t forget to check your cards and see where you’re at. So far, we have had two Bingo winners this season. Congratulations to @AIMR and @MistressJennie. You are both guaranteed to receive a first quarter prize pack!

Speaking of prize packs, I have been working diligently on the 2025 3rd quarter prize packs for @AIMR, @MistressJennie, @LittleCogs, and @gozer. I had hoped to get them sent out today as the last item will be cured and ready for shipping as of 3:15 today, but I’ve had a few things come up that have thwarted that plan and I will be heading out of town for the upcoming week. The good news is, that despite various hiccups along the way, all of the handmade components have been made. One of them is simply awaiting finishing touches. My goal is to give them those finishing touches and get them out in the mail shortly after I return. Additional good news - the 4th quarter prizes will be going out with the 3rd quarter prizes! Thank you all for your patience, it has been greatly appreciated!

Awe! Thank you so much! You are so awesome for doing all of this.
My life went awry at the beginning of the year, and I haven’t sewn at all. I plan on starting back with the Quiltalong in April. I have an ottoman cover and a quilt I need to make!
