G’ah! There is just so much amazing, my brain can’t seem to take it all in.
My mind is also boggled by those art quilts.
Today’s Bingo prompt:
Quilt your project
@tendstowardschaos, I really love the rainbow palette you compiled for the BOMs. I can’t wait to see what it will look like combined with the star print.
Follow up: OMG, your January BOM is amazing! I love the explosion of color.
@Edel, I’m sorry you were having a tough time with that Wander’s Wife block. If it’s any consolation, it came out adorably.
Follow up: Oh goodness! Your Wanderer’s Wife quilt is going to be so cool, and scrappy, and YOU!
@AIMR, I really love the Maple Star you nominated, and I think I have a special project for it… Outside of a normal BOM quilt.
@EclecticDreamer, I love your monochrome/Valentine Arkansas Crossroad block. The prints you choose (pin dot and small florals) made it so much fun.
@marionberries, Ooooohhhh, look at you pushing our skills to new heights with a paper pieced star! I love it.
@AudiobookLover, I keep coming back to stare at your Snow Globe quilt. It’s just such perfection. It makes my heart happy.
@MistressJennie I hope Ada is better? I mean who wouldn’t be better under that glorious quilt
She’s feeling mostly better. Still seems to be randomly running a fever, then over it for a few hours, then back to it. After a haphazard start (the bed frame we had turned out to be broken, resulting in her new mattress being on the floor for a night), Jim got her bed and headboard together, and rearranged her furniture. She slept in it last night, and did great. She loves being able to turn on her little axolotl lamp with just a touch, in case she has to get up to pee or get a drink of water, and she stayed under her covers all night. ![]()
She is so adorable all snuggled up in her big girl bed!
Oh goodness! How sweet! I am so glad you were able to get her bed put together so she can sleep with that gorgeous quilt!
I cut out the fabric from my mini quilt kit. Well, first off, the cutting was weird with 2-3/4 inch cuts…ugh for odd cuts. Second, the fabric cuts do not match the picture and there is not enough of that green leopard print to make it match. You’ll see what I mean when I finish it. That’s ok because I like the unpictured look better anyway but anyone who wanted to make the pictured mini would not be pleased!
The instructions are very good with lots of tips and tricks. It says it is for an advanced beginner level, but I would say that it is more for a beginner, even with making the flying geese pieces. The backing is plain cream color, which is ok since it will be on the wall or the back of a cushion, but I have enough scraps that I might zhuzh it up a bit.
What fun projects this year!
I have two quilts started based on the BOM, and now a third. I’m not sure where this one will take me, but it’s for the birds! I plan on bird and tree blocks to make up the lap quilt. This is the start.
I love your crow block!
Today’s Bingo prompt:
Submit a star block for the BOM
As in suggest a star block to be made for the BOM
@AudiobookLover, do you mean submit a completed Star BOM, or do you mean submit a suggestion for a BOM pattern?
Thank you, I meant to clarify that when this prompt came up. I mean the second option - submit a suggestion for a BOM pattern.
Ooohhh, how pretty are these???
Eeeeeeeee! ![]()

Here’s February’s BOM:
I struggled with the flying geese, they just did not want to be the size they should be. I wouldn’t normally have picked this fabric combination, but limited options (and I’ve already made two large blocks from them) meant this was one of the few possibilities. I have three very different, but matching star blocks now. I think the end result will be great.
This is a 9” block and I converted all measurements. Fun. I am using flannel and I am spray starching the fabric to reduce stretching. I also used the PP for the Flying Geese from last month’s block, only the top half, not the double. The center is not flannel, it’s a scrap I just love.
I still may do the 12” version in the black and rainbow colors, but it is so similar to the Jan BOM. Still thinking.
-I marionberries, submit this as my February BOM entry.
And I submit this star…
