Project Name & Page Link: Heart of the Forest Art Quilt
LC Contest/LC Swap/Charity Item: Use What You Have Swap
Team: Fitchburg Finches
Brief Description:
My partner in the Use What You Have Swap loves birds and anatomical hearts. So I combined the two in this art quit. I also used lots of favorite bits and bobs from my stash, including lace and trims I’ve been hoarding for years.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Housecraft - Repair
Project Name & Page Link: Capris to Shorts Repair
Team: Fitchburg Finches
Brief Description:
I’ve had these capris for at least 9 years. They came with artful rips and tears, along with some lovely flower embroidery near the pockets. But the decorative rip in the left knee had finally given way to a rip about 14" long. It left one leg open from my shin to thigh. :joy: Since they still fit comfortably, and in an effort to get as much use as possible out of clothing (rather than indulge in fast fashion), I decided to do a little rough alteration. I used the inseam measurement from another pair of shorts that I like the length of, and cut these to match. I did some darning of the highest part of the rip, then traced around the decorative rips, for added stability and strength of the fabric. They should now get a few more seasons use, at least around the house, or over my swimsuit near the pool.
